Re: This oughta start a decrease in piracy
What I have noticed is there is two types of Pirates: One who pirates for things they have to themselves, and one who makes a profit off of pirating. Someone like this guy...yes, they should fear.Current Project: Writing the story for my next game. That is all.

Yeah, this is going to have no effect whatsoever on the pirating market.
Most pirates that never get caught are the ones that operate out of high schools or colleges, and don't do things like selling online. I knew a guy in my high school who was big into piracy, of pretty much anything. He would go to school with a duffel bag full of VHS or DVD copies he'd made of whatever new hit movie had just hit theaters, and sell them at double the standard retail price of movies that came out. He had a lot of money.
He also had a card maker that he would use to sell stolen DirecTV to people. DirecTV caught up to him and sent him a letter saying they were going to sue him, but nothing ever came of it. The card maker eventually got him kicked out of school when he made cards that would open any door on his campus, and distributed them to his buddies in his dorm to pull a prank on the girls' dorm. The guys got caught, they ratted him out, and he was kicked out as a security risk.
He's now doing drugs and stays drunk most of the time.
The ironic thing is that he's probably still pirating."Mindless killing doesn't do a lot for me anymore." - Sampson

Not if you pirate nintendo's stuff. they crush emulation sites all the time, and they have sent several website owners to prison.Only people who actually sell the pirated wear would be punished like that.Last edited by Valkysas; 10-14-2005, 09:33 AM.

I wonder what that guy pirated. That sounds very similar to a remote control someone I knew in 8th grade aquired. He said it would work on any TV/VCR, and was planning on using it on the movie the class had to watch. I of course, made sure to ignore the order of "lean out of the way", as I knew that if the teacher decided that the VCR was messing up, he'd give us some assignment to do in class instead. The card maker eventually got him kicked out of school when he made cards that would open any door on his campus, and distributed them to his buddies in his dorm to pull a prank on the girls' dorm."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. No, it looked like a regular remote control."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
