Hello fellow RPG Maker enthusiasts!

I'm a complete newbie and I have a question for any who can answer it.
I have a full game that I created and I'm REALLY pumped about showing more people my work but I have absolutely no clue how I would go about doing so.

I noticed that RPGmaker Pavilion has a bunch of games available for download and I would really like to join the ranks of the full game category, if possible. I'm really stoked about this game I made so if anybody can give me some pointers on where I should start to get it posted, I really appreciate it!

okay, here's how.

With RPG Maker 1, you will need a Dex Drive. the dex drive manual itself explains what to do.

with RPG Maker 2, you have a lot more options. Shark Port, X port, Max Drive... I reccomend the max drive. you can buy it for 30 dollars at almost any store that sells games for around 30 dollars, or you can buy it in a bundle with an action replay max for 40 dollars. all of these devices allow you to take files from your PS2 memory card and put them on your PC. once it's on your PC, go to the submissions forum and do what it says to do.

with Shark Port and X Port, you have to have your PS2 next to your PC, and run a cable between them. Max Drive is just a little USB flash drive that plugs into your PS2, then once you get the files on there with the included software, you unplug, and plug into your PC/mac and just drag and drop the files from it, onto your desktop.

Awesome!
Thanks for the tips! You may soon be seeing another awesome full game coming!
I'd also like to add that it's great to see that I'm not the only one obsessed with the creation of RPG's as well as the actual playing. My heart rejoices at the thought!

Welcome. Was this made with the original RPGM or RPGM 2?

hmmm am I correct in saying this (unless something changed with newer ps2's)

you still could use the ps2 for rpg1 games, the only catch is you would have to copy the save to a ps1 memory card to play it. I recall doing a test to back up my card--- i copied my old ps1 memory card to a ps2 memory card. Although you cannot play/use ps1 saves off a ps2 card, you can use it to copy them to a ps2 and upload them online with the newer programs for the ps2 (such as codebreaker or action replay max). Then when those download your game, all they have to do is in their ps2 , just copy your game over to their ps1 card from the ps2 card and you will be in business

If you go this route (because the dex drive is no longer made and may not be the easiest thing to come by), take your game and zip it, include a read me file so you know that in order to actually play the game you would need to eventually copy it to a ps1 memory card. Im sure i could have said this in a few sentences and not 9 paragraphs if i wasnt half asleep right now--WOOO

um, that would destroy the save. PS1 saves dont work with PS2 transfer devices.

Damn, i could have sworn i did this, so i did a few test with the x-port and action replay max. no luck, although the x-port did see the ps1 saves on the ps2 card and it did transfer them to and from the card, but yes it did corrupt them

However the one fact does remain and that is you can transfer ps1 saves to a ps2 card WITH no corruption. Use the ps2 browser it works fine. Its good in those cases where if you need some room (on your ps1 card) to tack on the ps2 card. This does work

I still could swear i have done the transfer method (ps1/2 to pc) and got them to work, i dont know. Figure they would have made something where you can use the two by now. I know the main reason being a business/money issue (god knows how much revenue they would have lost had they let the ps1 memory saves play off the ps2 card, which technically could have been done. After all it does see the saves and the transfer between the two of them does work fine). Ok, back to the drawing board.....

It was made with RPGM 2.

Since it's already finished, I plan to enter it in the "Anything Goes" contest.
But there are a few changes that need to be made before I send it in, mainly two areas that don't need to be there, some minor adjustments to spell settings, and other various problems I noticed during the testing phase. All in all, everybody should have a good time with it!

I hope you like exploding sheep!

If it comes to it you can mail a memory card to Doan the Nado and he'll upload it for you. So far he's done that with jugem and doyleman that I know of, so don't worry, you can trust him. We're always glad to have new RPG creators here, so welcome!:thumbs

that is a great service doan does for people, and he's definately trustworthy.

still worth getting a file transfer device though, to play other people's games.

I'm quite excited about playing other people's game as well as putting my own online.

I think seeing how creative people are who aren't in the video game industry really puts things into perspective.

Hi I am a n00b also um I was wondering if you could use a codebreaker and a USB Flash Drive to do this.... The codebreaker uses the file EXT .cbc

Nope, as far as I know of, that's not one of the extensions we support.

Hey! I'd post this question in a newer forum considering nobody's gonna read this cuz it's so old. I'd answer it, for ya, but I don't know...

Edit: Apparantly I just ate my words... mmm, chicken...

no one really uses that format. everyone pretty much uses max drives (saves in .max format) and shark ports/x ports (.sps and .xps formats). the three are all interchangable with the file converter we have in the tools section.

I'm sorry to say that you won't be able to play any games anyone has made if you only use a codebreaker, since I dont know of any way to convert files to or from that format. furthermore, the pavilion won't accept saves in that format either.
