I don't mean to focus on the casino aspect. But just that they're going to use a Texas Hold'em Tournament. I read this book a while back. It's good, and yes, it's the first James Bond novel and yes, Woody Allen and David Niven spoofed it. Then Mike Myers spoofed it. And now Austin Powers producers want to respoof it with a prequel starring Seth Green as a younger Dr. Evil. My opinion on that: **** Seth Green, **** Austin Powers and **** those producers.
Yes, the core plot involves poker but I don't think it was TEXAS HOLD 'EM though. Don't believe everything you read on IMDB. Any halfwit jackass can edit that stuff.
There's also a heavy amount of torture and subjugation in the story, which is probably what attracted Quentin Taratino to the property initially. So it's not ALL OMG POKER. Die Another Day's opening titles had me excited briefly because it showed James Bond being tortured over time. Then, y'know, the movie began and all that changed.
I hear Croupier, starring Clive Owen has a similar poker premise...
In any case, they're gonna announce the new Bond tomorrow. Early word is that it's Daniel Craig but... I dunno.
