    Master Fighter

I got a great idea for a game. I thought of it today while messing around with RPG Maker 3. I thought it would be an easily made game so I thought I would finish it before any of my other games. It is called Master Fighter.

It pretty much starts where you join a club for people who want to fight for a living. You have to go to different towns battling there "Master Fighter" who always is at the Town Fighting school. In these fighting schools you can also fight his students. Each one has mastered only one of his moves. If you defeat him then you get the regular ability. If you can defeat every one of his students then you get the best ability of that school. The schools will master in Fire, Ice, Lightning, earth, Dark, Holy, and Heal. Plus I am planning on adding a couple of hidden schools for the fun of it. In the end you can, depending on how much money you get by winning(there are not any shops untill then end you must find everything) and are able to buy a certain item. These will be the trophies for you person. Then you can go back home and show it off to the people of your town. And that is pretty much it untill the sequal, which I plan on making unless everyone hates the idea. But I will make the first one to see how it goes.

    Sounds interesting.

Reminds me of Pokemon a little bit with the gyms, though. That's really the only bit I have with it.

Not much else to say. Typical RPG fighting, correct?

    In conclusion: I'd play it.

No offense... But this sounds like Pokemon... and I mean, almost exactly like it... Lol

If you can work in a story (because you none) it might not feel so plagiarized.

EDIT - Take a good look at what you have so far... People don't play RPGs for the battle system. Unless it's a RTS or have some incredibly fun fighting system (RPGM3s is a bit dull though).

It is an interesting idea. I would have it as a side-quest tho...
Current Project: Writing the story for my next game. That is all.

          Re: Master Fighter

Yeah it does sound like Pokemon. That is what I thought when I read it out to myself. I was kinda dissapointed because of that. But I am going to try and change that a bit. I will work on the story line alot more tomorrow. I hae tons of time because I am on Fall Break for my school. I get this whole week off.

I do plan on using the typical fighting system.

Actually I thought about using it as a side quest. The only thing is it would take alot of NPC's and my other games all use alot too.

Edit: here is the story (it ain't so much pokemon any more)

It starts while you are at your hometown and are trying to get a position in the fighting school. You talk to the "Master Fighter" of the school and have a fight to see how strong you are. During the battle (which will be done on storyteller) he will tell you that you are pretty good. Then Glory will get mad because you don't look strong. He will fight you and you must win. He isn't that hard although he does have tons of muscles. They have one last test for you though. You must get the skill called ice. So you try to get to the ice kingdom but they won't let you in because they are at war with Earth Kingdom. So you go to earth kingdom to try and stop them from having a war. You beat there Master fighter and the soldiers come home because they feel weak. So you try back to Ice Kingdom and they are yet at war with another City, town or kingdom. So you go there and beat there Master Fighter. Then again there soldiers come home because they feel weak. This goes on for some time untill all but the White Mages City, Holy Town, and Ice Kingdom are all left. You defeat Ice Kingdoms Master Fighter and go back. They gladly let you join the school and even more so say that you pretty much won every school. You go and defeat White Mages City and Holy Town. In Holy Town is the shop were you get your "trophy" and you go home and show off your trophy. Then you here about a tournament and are ready for the sequal.

          features:
          Default Battle System
Many Exiting guessing puzzles (lots of numbers to remember for passwords that you get from figuring out the puzzle.)

Rated E for Everyone (who doesn't get tired of walking all the way across the map without fightingany monsters)

          Reasons:
Soldiers feel weak= they were trained by the Master Fighter
Thats the only thing I saw needed to be explained. If you see something though I will add it to the list.
No monsters-Listen to story about war against monsters in the game

          Things people might not like
No monsters-yeah thats right none at all. You can only fight certain NPC's. But that is most of them anyway.
really short-It ain't that long at all. My guess is the finished thing will only take a half an hour to finish.
Character- The character fighting does not match the character running around

          Things people will like
Lots of puzzles-Yeah some easy some hard. It's more guessing the right answer than order of switches.
creative storyline-I think it is. Atleast after it wasn't so much like pokemon.

            Re: Master Fighter

As for the characters not matching, couldn't you do the trick thing that lets any character equip any weapon?

              Re: Master Fighter

If you're just making this to learn the ropes of RPGM3 (I get that when you say it'll take 1/2 hour to beat), use what's said here for your next, more serious, game.

The problem is that your story is choppy and empty. Why do the characters do what they do? The other obvious aspect are the names of places, cliche elements, and unoriginal plot devices. The biggest problem, however, is that there is that everything that happens is exactly what's expected to happen...

"It starts while you are at your hometown and are trying to get a position in the fighting school."

Expected cliche plot device: Young man's adventure starts in hometown, when what should be a normal rutine leads into a long journey.
Also, why does the main character want to get a position in the fighting school.

"You talk to the "Master Fighter" of the school and have a fight to see how strong you are. During the battle (which will be done on storyteller) he will tell you that you are pretty good."

'Master Fighter'? Off the top of my head, the names Champion, Paladin, Captain, General, and Warlord are all better names. Use http://thesaurus.reference.com/ .
Expected cliche plot device: Protagonist gets his strength tested by having to fight someone, and he happens to be abnormally strong.

"Then Glory will get mad because you don't look strong. He will fight you and you must win. He isn't that hard although he does have tons of muscles."

'Glory'? Try taking a word such as glory, which holds meaning, and translating it into another language so that its meaning is less obvious. For example, the difference between 'Evil' and 'Malifus'. Taking it into a mythological reference works well too, such as 'Divine' to 'Brynhild'. http://catholic.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/lookdown.pl and http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~cherryne/mythology.html are some good sites for this sort of thing.
Expected cliche plot device: Rival friend becomes jealous of protagonist's strength, challenges him, loses, and vows to defeat protagonist in the future. To add to this you're making him big and buff looking.

I don't feel like doing the whole story, but this should give you an idea as to what really makes a good story.
