    religious games

but not really. games you play, but in a sort of religious / ritual manner.

for me, it's the entire silent hill series. have to play at night, window open, lights out, candles lit, and surround sound on.

then there's alundra. speed runs. get every item possible. beat the game with bare minimum equipment. etc.

Think about what you want to say and then try again.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

Absolutely. Same with the Res Evil games, ESPECIALLY the 'Cube remake. Though I much prefer rain and thunder.

Recently, whenever the mood fits (such as in Metroid Prime 2) I'll turn all of my lights off and pump up the sound. It's kinda funny, because the sound is connected to a stereo behind me. I like it, though.

I did the same for Doom 3, and Fatal Frame series.

I would turn the lights off, plug in my head phones an only play at night.

I sometimes pump up the volume whenever I'm fighting a boss, any game. Almost always the case when it's the final boss. It's such a climactic event in the game, I figure it needs the extra boost.

Naturally I do the same when the ending plays.

I remember when Chrono Trigger first came out I was grounded from videogames so I had to play it at night after my mom was asleep for the first few days. I got all the way to Medina like that.

I will only play Doom 3 late at night on nightmare difficulty with the HUD turned off =D

With any Silent Hill game, I start playing around dusk so it gets darker outside as I game.

I name all my soldiers in the X-com games. One will always be named "Mr. Expendable" and he must never die.

I thought Doom 3 was much better thanHalf Life 2...

Of course, not from the mod/multiplayer point of view.

I had a crazy fever once, and staring at bright things would hurt my brain.

But I still played Chrono Trigger through the pain.
