    My new game: Virtuality

Yup, I'm back, and I've got a brand new game in the works. It's going to be made for RPG Maker 1, and it's going to be my best yet. Here's a quickie preview:

    VIRTUALITY

    by jerbils

Concept: Jeremy is alone in his room one night, trying to come up with an idea for a new RPG Maker game. Frustrated, he goes to his computer to blow off some steam. Meanwhile, a freak electrical storm is quickly brewing up outside. Lightning strikes Jeremy's house and is conducted into his computer, electrocuting him and sucking him into the computer. Since his login name is Jerbils, he takes on the characteristics of his virtual counterpart. Jerbils must somehow escape this world of Virtuality!

Motivation: Jerbils must collect/free-up Megabytes in the computer system, thus allowing him to leave the computer world. Megabytes are won by defeating various viruses infecting his computer.

Gameplay: The interface will resemble a windows computer as closely as possible. You control the cursor to select and open folders, programs and so forth. There are no battles in this game, viruses are destroyed by playing and winning minigames. Each virus will have it's own minigame to play.

One of the main characters will be F1 the Help Dog.

Alrighty, that's the game in a nutshell. I think it's going to turn out very well, what do you guys think?

I'm back baby, and better than ever.

Sounds great! However, you may want to reconsider the "megabytes" concept; if it becomes another "collect 100 orbs/crystals" game, I'll never play it.

Thanks! But, the way I see it, there's got to be some motivation/reason for the player to keep playing.

It would be awesome if you made this on XP and had the characters fighting on desktop backgrounds and inside folders and through other programs like Word.

Eh, I'm sticking with what I know here. Also, there's not going to be any battles. Battles are boring.

This would be perfect for RPG Maker 2. Too bad you won't use it.

THAT actually is an idea I have had for a game. I was going to do it with RPG Maker 2k3, but lost interest.

Anyway, sounds like an interesting game. Hope it turns out well!

Due to the computer-like interface, this is actually best suited for RM1.

                  Oh and thanks, Alzar.

Just a quickie update. I'm in the Research and Development stage of my game, and I have figured out how to have makeshift multi-conditional statements (think 3-way choices within 3-way choices). In RPG Maker 1. This game is going to employ technical aspects you have never seen before.

In what game? And, if you can remember, how were they used?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough before. I shouldn't have used "3-way choice," more like if-then statements within others. The player doesn't make the choice, the game does based on conditions.
