    Final Fantasies

What's your favorite / least favoite Final Fantasy game? I guess you can include Chrono Trigger & Cross in here too, since those two games often get lumped together with the Final Fantasy games.

My favorite: FFVI. I really liked the setting, with technology being used in what is an otherwise medivel setting. (Okay, that happens in alot of the games I guess). The characters were really well done too. And you've got to love Kefka and his evil laugh.

Least favorite: FFVIII. Choose the GF to summon, watch 1 minute summoning animation. Choose another, watch cool but repetitive animation again. And again. And again. Boooooooooooooooring. I can't belive that none of the playtesters pointed this out during testing. Also, I didn't like that you could pretty much make any character any kind of fighter you wanted by equipping the appropriate GF.

Worthy of note: I was quite dissapointed by Chrono Cross because I was expecting a game alot more like Chrono Trigger. There were way too many characters for my taste, not nearly enough different time periods to travel between, and the story was too convoluted for me to follow.

Those are my picks, but I haven't played them all. I've played FF1,5,6,7,8,9,10,X-2, and both of the Chronos.

There was already a Fav FF topic not too long ago.

You're new, so all is forgiven.

Contrary to popular belief, the Final Fantasy series in NOT the only video game series ever created.

And the Chrono games are definitely separate from the FFs.

        definitely definitely.

That's the purpose of GFs. Now the junction and level up systems, THOSE were broken. That's why I didn't like FFVIII. My fav is FFVII. If it wasn't for the limit system being exploitable, broken materia, bad translations and the game being generally easy, I'd deem it perfect.

              Re: Final Fantasies

I wouldn't consider the chrono games in the same league as ff, to quote samuel jackson, that isn't even in the same fing ballpark.

              I thought ff6,5, 1 and 2 were the best 7 was a close following.

and 8 was by far the worst, possibly the worst game ever competing with beyond the beyond for that spot. and 9 was bad but kind of nostalgic, so it kind of slides by.

and 10 is a cure for insomnia- I fell asleep every time I played that boring ass game. FF needs to go back to old school and concentrate on game and story and enjoyability, if I want to watch a cg movie I can always watch advent children or the spirits within. graphics should not be the main focus when it cuts into gameplay and enjoyability.

If you really must include ct and cc with the ff games, then even in its retro and dated era, ct is by far the best of the bunch, with cc following close behind (a few ffs can compete though), and I would not be off in including the up and coming ff12 with that comparison to ct either.

I thought the other topic was about FFVII?

My favorite would be FFVI/III, since I'm playing through it again right now.

I keep trying to get into VI but it never works out, I always get bored right at the start.

The first part is kind of tedius. But as you get farther along, things really pick up.

incredibly, I was too dumb to hate FF8 and actually REALLY enjoyed it. More than 7 and 9. The story somehow appealed to me and they did some cool things with graphics like when you are arriving at the shore and you are moving in a cg scene. that was pretty cool.

my overall favorite is probably that one and chrono cross. that was pretty awesome too.

If you make it to the Lete River and it doesn't cure your boredom then you're not right in the head.

Why are the Chrono games included in this as well?
