Can a comp crash with too much media running?

Such as videos, music, and games? My comp does this. When I'm playing a game, it will shut off by itself. It didn't use to do this. It could be a virus, but I really don't know. It's been doing this for a long time. Does anyone else have this problem? Is their anyway to fix it?

    Maybe its overheating.

Rub your cheek on it. If it's too hot for your cheek it shouldn't be running. Let it cool.

How much memory do you have?
(If you dont know, go to Control Panel > System to find out)

Sounds like an overheating problem. You might want to invest in a good heatsink.

Instead of playing a game, try installing one. I had a random shutdown problem for a long time and it ended up being a bad hard drive.

I had this same problem a few months ago after installing a new processor. It was one of those overclocked AMD processors and some games like WOW and KOTOR II, just don't like overclocked processors.

Yup. My laptop's only two years old but it started being a ***** over the summer. So I got it a big fat cooling fan unit to lay it on. Works fine now.

Only the cooling unit comes with 4 new USB ports and they don't work because the USB connections on my laptop are, like, slow USB connection or some ****? So, yeah. Useless.

              FUN ****ING TIMES.

If it is an overheating problem, wouldn't it just shutoff over anything, like paint, or notepad, or internet?

BTW it's internet games I'm playing. And just recently, it shut off while I was listening to BYOB. I feel like kicking my computer. I've also had fans blowing in it.

I have another question. When you turn your computer off, do you just turn the tower off, or the whole computer by flipping the switch. I leave my switch on. Could this be causing overheating?

And Marcman, here is what it says under computer.

                256 MB of RAM

256mb of RAM is pretty tiny.

I woulden't even think of multitasking on that computer, it seriously probably is overheating.
