    Small field?

I was in the field editor, and when I tried to preview it, I noticed that alot of the map was in red, meaning you couldn't go to it. I filled the read area with water, and was left with a pretty small rectangle. Did I make a mistake, or is the field really that small?

If your intent was to have a little map (You can't walk on water)

there's nothing wrong...you just can't walk on water...or on very steep terrain

If you made a map full of water or mountains u can't walk there

since you purposefully filled it with water...you got a very limited map...nothing wrong here if u ask me

But before I made the water, the surrounding red area was pretty big.

You can make the actual walkable area of the map a 100x100 section in the center. What i did it make a huge 100x100 square, and then edited it until i got the main continent i wanted. its not too difficult.

Yeah for some strange reason they don't allow you to walk all the way to the edge of the map, even if the land would normally be walkable. No idea why.

Just to show some "depth" to the land, I suppose.

Isn't the background already doing that?

I have an idea for linking continents though. I think there are specific towns that have more than one exit(i hope i'm right). you could create a bottleneck mountain range at the section where you want the continents to meet. run the land all the way to the edge of the map, and put a town at the opening to the bottleneck. I wonder if you could have the town enter on one continent, and exit on the other...or you can do a dungeon that links 2 continents...kinda like Dragon Warrior did.

I don't think there are any towns with multiple exists. I hope I am mistaken though, cuz I could use one. If not, I will just have to use a "custom" one....

When I need a town with extra exits, I'm using one with the open areas available, setting them to empty (instead of balloons), and placing a few events there to warp the player somewhere else on the field.

That will work. Just make a one floor, no battle dungeon that is simply a straight line. Put a secret door on the other end. I have already made two tunnels this way and have no complaint.
