    SLAI

Good god, if your looking for a challenge, go buy this damned game. You will die VERY fast if you dont watch your ass.

Alot like Armored Core in some ways, but very different style of gameplay. In Armored Core you pick your shots, while dodging enemy fire. In SLAI you shoot as many weapons as you possibly can, while hoping for your life your opponent isnt playing with the same strategy.

The paintjobs for the mechs are really cool, and there are decals you can put on too. All kinds of crazy part designs to use. Only thing I dont like about making a robot so far is that you cant mix parts from different companies to make a single mech.

I dont really like most of the music in the game, but alot of it is real music, and not just stuff thrown together by Konami. Theres more japanese music than anything else.

Theres also a company in the game called Kojima Industries, since its a Konami game.

You cant make your own decals, which sucks, but its not too big of a problem, as there are more than hundred to choose from. And the paintjobs work a little differently. There are tons and tons of premade paintjobs. Flames, bones, even big cute teddy bear paint sets. The only "Custom" paintjob I can make is just a thing that gives you RGB bars to work with, and that colors your entire mech.

But becuase of the way that your able to pick decals and paintjobs, there may be a real custom one that comes up at some point letting you make anything, and I just havent gotten to it yet.

The whole game operates on a 100+ day schedual, and it keeps repeating itself. Every day has its own set of parts, paintjobs, decals, optional parts, etc that are for sale.

Its free to playonline, but I dont dare go on till I can scrounge together a half-decent mech. Im always tight on money.

Once you get the hang of the controls, you can pull of some crazy ass moves.

Like run at a guy shooting, jump over him while keeping him targeted and still shooting, switch on camo, land behind him and rape their ass while they are still turning around.

Ive got 4 machine guns on my mech, and I can level the D class guys in seconds. The D class ranker still kicks my ass all the time though. C class guys kick my ass all the time too, and the C class ranker is insanely powerful.

He can kill me in less time that it takes me to kill a D class guy, and he has insane defense. I havent even bothered to try A or B class matches yet. Id get my ass kicked so damn fast.

I tried playing online last night and there were about 12 people playing on the japanese server. I want to know what the hell they are typing! The lag was horrible, but hopefully it was just cause they were so far away.

                  Re: SLAI

Im getting pretty far into the game now. Neato story too.

From what I can tell if you go online with a mech loaded out with nothing but "heavy" tuned machine guns, people wont like you very much.

One, because you can kill people almost instantly, and two, they call it the "OMG TEH N00B COMBO".

The machine guns are easy enough to avoid though, and can easily be countered with other combos, so I dont know why people hate them so much. Getting a melee weapon to the back is almost always an instant kill, and people like make a super fast mechs that cloak and sneak in on other people in the middle of a fight and get an easy kill. Only problem with that is that if you get knocked out of cloaking, you're in a VERY lightly armored mech, and you will die in no time at all.

I really love this game. Im kinda glad I didnt get AC:Ninebreaker, and got this instead.

                    Re: SLAI

Dont use the Advanced controls. I just set it to custom and and used the buttons it already had setup.

Sooooooo much easier to control the mech.

                      Re: SLAI

Oh, man, I love this game. I'm an old Phantom Crash (the prequil on the Xbox) vetran, and I must say, this is MUCH more difficult then original PC. I'm a bit dissapointed to see some of my favorite weapons not re-appearing (that being Kojama's recoilless cannon and sniper rifle) but other then that, I rather enjoy the game. Yes, 'teh n00b combo' works rather well, and if done correctly is almost unstopable. However, a great idea for you, is to put a melee weapon on your SV, that way, when ammo is scarse, you don't have to peal out of a match, plus, you can charge an enemy with guns blazing till you get a TAPS lockon, then stab the sucker to death in close range. Works every time, unless of course they have a melee weapon, then you die a quick and painfull death.
As for the music, dude, it totally rocks! Its mostly J-Rock and J-pop with a bit of american stuff and techno thrown in for good mesure. Give the music a chance, and if worst comes to worst, just buy mona lisa's "Awake to love" and listen to it over and over and over again... if it doesn't drive you insane, it will give you a profound love for all things quirky and japanese, plus, it will improve your aim*!

To anwser your question, dude who keeps being ignored, four. A total of four people online so far, however, I haven't tried it yet, simply due to the fact I don't have a network adapter for my ps2.

*not proven to actually improve your aim

Its a real pain in the ass to earn money until the very end of the game.

Uprading your parts is what will really suck the life out of you.
