    World of Warcraft

heya there. im sure you all know that this is mavin from ffxi =p

now, if your thinking at this moment: i dont want to jump into another MMORPG where i wait hours for parties and never can craft or earn any cool items or even SOLO in the least-let me tell you that WoW if far far far better than that.

you know i left ffxi because i just didnt have the time to play it anymore. i got tired of the waiting literally HOURS for parties. not being able to solo and inch of a level. and the tedeous task of crafting bored me to hell.

well, in WoW i have solo'd almost every point of xp to my level 31 character. it is also completly possible, and DESIGNED to be able to solo to level 60(the level cap at this point). the customization in WoW is incredible. tons of different types of armor that will change your characters appearance. cool ass weapons. and stunning graphics. plus there is PvP between the horde and alliance factions, you can challenge anyone to a duel. and this game actually feels like a game as opposed to a chore to level up. you get huge amounts of xp just from doing the simple quests. also you consistently get great items too.

me, soulzero, fushi, suichi and others from FFXI would really really enjoy it even more if you were there experiencing it with us. it is truely not like any MMORPG. i have left this game alone for a week at a time. come back to it and have been able to pick it up no problem without feeling like ive missed anything. plus this game rewards you for not playing for extended amounts of time. every single time you log out you start to acumulate "rest" xp. rest xp give you a 200% bonus to your xp gain. so if you do log out for a few days it helps you keep up with everyone level-wise.

yes im trying to talk you all into buying this game i think its definitely worth it to check out and im sure none of you will be dissapointed if you do.

so now onto the screenshots =)

this is my buddy stitches. its a "she" if you couldnt tell

    who wouldnt love that face!?

in world of warcraft, you dont need to buy maps, they open up as you explore them

in WoW there are instance dungeons where its only your party in the whole dungeon. unfortunatly that means no one comes to your parties aid when you get your ass handed to you

whats really nice about WoW is that you can use custom made buttons and utilities within it. these make the game a jillion times easier and better to play. they are all fully supported by blizzard

this is what your screen looks like when you use the basic interface

these next few screenshots will show different aspects of custom interfaces. this one shows a more convienient quest screen and resourse gathering tool

when my rogue is stealthed, i can only use certain skills, and only certain skills can be used when stealthed. when i am stealthed those skills are the only ones that will show on the screen

when i come out of stealth i get a whole nother bar of skills i can use

with the default interface a rogue build combo points and uses energy. these are displayed as little red dots next to the mob, and a yellow bar under my health. you can see them here. they dont tell you how much energy you have, and it can sometimes be hard to see how many combo points you have. this little tool fixes that by displaying these numbers

well thats it for now. i do have more pictures at THIS addy. check em out.

-----Nixon----- I sent you a PM but i dont know if you have read it yet. if you have please let me know

And as much as I would love to join you guys, I've given up MMORPGs for a while.

Unfortunatly it looks like I always go with the MMOs that don't catch on at the pavilion. You still play City Of Heroes?

Yeah, its even a little more solo friendly it seems...atleast up until you fight a boss in an instance mission. fought an even lvl boss, had some decent inspirations, and he still whupped my ass yesterday.

                  Re: World of Warcraft

Words can never express how much I love this game. It's like all the fun and laided back feel of PSO with the huge expansive world of FFXI. Only the game feels bigger then FFXI and somehow every single little bitty inch of world seems so important to the world. Nothing feels like it was just put there to add illusion of a huge world.

The fighting system is so interactive that it's action packed. One wrong choice in a duel of pvp and it's usually game over for you. It's so fast and smooth to switch enemies and fight multiple people at one time. It's exciting. But the huge wars that break out between the alliance and horde are some of the best gaming moments I've ever had. My adrenaline actually gets pumping when I'm in them. I've been in fight where we were an army of 20 and it felt like endless horde (real players) were piling into our position from every angle yet we held our ground and somehow pushed them back.

It's just amazing seeing fireballs flying all over, axes and swords swinging from every direction. You feel like you're in some kind of Lord of the Rings battle come to life. It's something that has to be experienced to believe. No game has ever come closer to making me feel like I'm in the middle of an epic fantasy war like this game has.

But the great thing is if you're not in the mood for it you can keep your player vs. player off and just hang out with friends or solo and do what feels like an endless amount of quests that give you great weapons and xp. Which is another thing that makes the game great. It's not about making money, farming endless mobs or spending months building a tradeskill to buy decent gear. It's not about having the best gear money can buy for your level. It's not even about playing your class uber. It's all about doing some quests with friends or just hanging out online and soloing them while chatting to friends. There are a lot people who come from Everquest and Final Fantasy and just don't get it, but this game is only about one thing. Hanging out casually with friends beating up some monsters and having a little fun.....period.

                    Re: World of Warcraft

P.S. Since I have to go to army boot camp for five months I called to ask blizz about cancelling and how it would effect my character. To sum up what the guy told me. No matter how long you quit we don't delete characters, even if you make the max of 50, they will always be a part of the game if you ever choice to return. How cool is that?!?! After all the money and time I spent with FFXI Square had the nerve to delete my beloved character PLUS charge me more for the extra I had. I'm just glad to know I'm not dedicting the rest of my life to paying a monthly charge for a character I invested in. If I want to move on I know I can always come back. That's cool.

That is cool. It was one of the issues I hated the most while playing FFXI. I wanted to be able to know that I had something I could come back to, but they wouldn't even keep your character for more than three months.

I would love to play with you guys but I just don't have the time/money anymore.
