A History of Violence

A very straightforward Western with bizarre bits of comedy, intentional and otherwise, thrown in. Bloody as ****in' hell and some filthy sex to boot. A suspenseful score by Howard Shore and true-to-comicbook-source direction from Cronenberg. Perfect tone and exemplary pacing.

I loved it.

It is a very twisted flick. Be sure to pay attention to your reactions as much as you pay attention to the movie.

Cronenberg is one sick ****. I love his work.

Case in point: Naked Lunch, The Dead Zone, Dead Ringers, Scanners, The Fly, Crash, Videodrome, The Brood

Everything that I have seen of his I was just blown away by. I have not seen a lot of his early stuff from the 70s and late 60s, but I plan on it.

My interest was highly piqued when I watched this Top 100 Scary Movies list special thing on Bravo last semester. It was a great program, it showed a lot of obscure, bizarre stuff and had commentary from greats like Guillermo del Toro, Stan Winston, Bruce Campbell...

But I really gotta see it for Chris Walken and the seppuku/scissors scene.
