I bought this game three hours ago... And I just returned it.

I bought this game with so many expectations (most of them reasonable), but when I spent some time with it, I was abhorred. I didn't think I could dislike this game more than RM2, but now I know anything is possible. The problem lies with the fact that it is SOOOOOO limiting... You can't make towns that are even remotely interesting. Now that's not a big problem, I'll just put town-like buildings on the world map... But oh no, you're not allowed to do that! Hmmm... maybe I can make some unique and out-there minigames... But oh no, the system is way too simplistic to allow for anything like that! These are the kinds of things that any game I would make would be centered around. I'm much happier with my $50. Screw RPG Maker and screw Agetec, I have been let down too many times. All I wanted was a 3D RPG Maker that's at least as good as the first one. I'm done with this series of games.

And Valk, I am fully prepared for you to say "Good for you" in some form another, so you don't have to bother.

    Lol, your damn hilarious man.

You had all the freedom you could ever want in RPG Maker 2 but you didn't like it?

Let me guess, it was too hard?

    You can't have everything.

RM2 had motion blur and couldn't handle anything I wanted to do with it. (i.e. freezing, turbo-lag). If it could handle more than 15 events on-screen and more than 512 blocks in one dungeon, I would have loved it.

Try RPG Maker XP if you really feel the need to create every single thing.

        Bottom line though.

I dout many people just bought RPG Maker 3 for the hell of it. I know I did a lot of research before buying it. I checked message boards, screenshots, etc.

I knew what I was getting. I don't know why some people expected something different.

At first I was dissapointed in it cause I thought it was limiting. Then I played with a little and found that you can do some realy cool stuff. You shouldn't have placed judgement on it so fast.

Play RPG Maker 1. Of course if the 2-d graphics are beneath you, you could always dance. That's a fun recreational and cardiovascular activity.

I actually like the story mode. It makes my dating sim very easy to do.

I don't have to search endlessly for the code I needed. I can just pop into the story teller mode or the event mode and find it easy.

I am disappointed in the lack of movement of events and ncps. But it isn't so much of a problem as long as you account for it in your game.

That is truly the only thing I didn't like about this game. That, and not enough BGMs. But I still gotta love this program.
Current Project: Writing the story for my next game. That is all.

You've only had the game three hours, then returned it....

man, people are so judgemental these days. you sacked it before you got to know it and love it like some of the people on these boards....shame on you!

email agetec and ask them for a "make my masterpiece game" tab that automatically generates what you want without any work at all.

                      yea that'll do

There are ways to get around all that. You're the kind of person that'd be better off going to RPG Maker XP, or developing your own game from scratch.

After I played the terribly limiting RPG Maker 3, I had a replenished appreciation for RPG Maker 2, since it was so much more convenient.

I thought RPGM3 was supposed to be "RPGM1", just with better graphics?

I don't know why characters can't move. I think that is one of the things that's kinda dumb about 3, but there are ways around it.

Yeah RPG Maker is kinda like an acquired taste.
Just like Haitoku I did some research on it and looked for
                              trailers, reviews, and screenshots.

You can't even judge a game like that in 3 hours...there are so much
stuff you don't get to see if you just turn it on, click one thing, and turn it off.
