... I suppose you could say I'm liking it. I've heard various arguments about whether RPG Maker 2 or 3 is better, and while I admit, I was leaning towards 3, 2 just has this charm with it that makes it seem to work better. However, I have to admit that I'm griping over the scripts feature and the easier field map editor functions right now.

It's been so long since I used this last that I don't even know how to use the map anymore. I was struggling for almost two hours trying to figure out how to use everything, from textures to map blocks, all over again. It's nice to know that my dungeon-building skills haven't gotten any better, however. :D

Anyway, the question I have is this (have to stay on topic): Is it possible to create a way to see your own chars attack in the battle system? I've always used the default battle system to retain that Dragon Warrior feel, but I really want to see if I can do it. Can anybody remind me if it's possible?

More than possible. Check this out:

Or you could just use VFX Characters.

They are incredibly easy to display in battle.

(Shameless Plug: Like I did HERE (http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2835&highlight=screenshots)).

That only uses the very limited VFX Characters I started with (the character turns into various weapons), but I now have him turning into bugs too.

That is why I love RPGM2 the most of the series of console RPGMakers. None of the others can even come close in my opinion.

And there are plenty of people here and elsewhere that will help when you run into problems with anything from scripts to Map Making (speaking of which, Click Here for The Final Rune's Map Editor Guide). (http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/showthread.php?t=962)

You said you were rusty with maps and this is a great guide.

Another great reference is Dungeon Warden's Advanced FAQ. (http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/showthread.php?t=870) I used that more than Prima's Guide when learning how to use RPGM2 and can't recommend it highly enough.

I hope that helped.

Peace.

Thanks, guys! Crimson Knight for the link to the example that Dungeon Master said for those battles, and Rodak fokr all the nice links - just to specify. :P I'm getting into the swing of things again, at the least, but my building skills are still as bad as ever. It'll have to do - I've been working on this script for at least two months and I'd like to see a smidgen of a game come out of it.

Time to hit the grind...
