    IMPORTANT: Pavilion Playground, Rule Change

Due to circumstances, there's going to be a semi-drastic change in what kind of content is acceptable on the public boards. Because neither Valkysas nor I wish to Disney-fy the forums into nothingness, we're giving the more open-minded, mature members of our forums a chance to talk uninhibited in the Pavilion Playground, a forum that will be up shortly.

With this comes a change in how we'll do business in all the other forums. Our previous standards were apparently too lax, so the cursing, race-related joking and any/all other forms of pervertedness or heavily violent content will not be tolerated. This includes all the homoerotic-laden chicanery we've grown used to. On top of that, the use of the "racism" emoticon will be forbidden. Anyone seen using it will be punished by the mods or admins.

Things will be a lot more relaxed at the Pavilion Playground, however. In order to keep such "questionable" content from young posters (and their parents), only people that request to be let into the Playground, and that get approved by our staff, will be let in. If you've been here for about nine months and we trust you're mature enough to handle yourself in the Playground, you'll be let in. Just about the only people we wouldn't let in are spammers or flamers.

I'm sorry it had to come to this, but in order for us to keep the freedom of expression we've become accustomed to, this has to be done. Be good boys and girls and don't let us catch you doing anything that wouldn't be appropriate for children to see.

I believe this is a great idea. I have only been a member here for a short time, but I have seen some pretty offensive material. Not that I cared, but I knew someone would complain/be offended. And it will be much easier for moderators to moderate the boards. Keep up the good work!

Why not drop it from the emote list?

This is a good idea, especially with all the new people coming in and agetec linking here from their site. Does it mean somebody's going to comb through all the old Free Forum posts to filter out the badness?

Re: IMPORTANT: Pavilion Playground, Rule Change

one thing to note is that no one is voted in, if you want in, you'll likely get in unless you're too new, too young, or a constant rule-breaker.

any content posted in the playground that is not "obscene" enough to be in there will be moved to the proper public forum. so it is in no way a free-forum alternative.

I'd still think it was funny if it hadn't been run into the ground a long time ago from rampant over-use.

All it's going to do is confuse people who don't access the playground. It seems like it would save the mods and admins a lot of future hassle if you just got rid of it altogether.

                            Just my two cents.
