    Speed up your Browser

I read this in another forum, but it seems to work.

LOAD PAGES AT THE SPEED OF SOUND (DSL / BROADBAND + FIREFOX BROWSER)

You will have to switch from Internet Explorer, to FIREFOX (CLICK HERE). Trust me, if you have DSL, or Broadband, this is the most amazing tweak you can find. Your browser will load the web pages so much faster, that you will never use Internet Explorer again! - Download and install Firefox (CLICK HERE). You can import all your bookmarks, and passwords easily, with a simple wizard.

First, if you have any trouble loading web pages with Fire Fox after you apply this tweak, make sure to turn off any pop up or cookie control programs. They are not necessary if you use FF. It is possible pop up or cookie control programs can cause web pages within FF after this tweak to slow down or not load completely.

    - Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
    network.http.pipelining
    network.http.proxy.pipelining
    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. - Alter the entries as follows:
    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

    - Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ENABLE MULTIPLE INTERNET EXPLORER CONNECTIONS

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT YOU NEED TO EDIT THE REGISTRY FILE. USE CAUTION. IF YOU'RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH WINDOWS REGISTRY, PAY EXTRA ATTENTION.
    Close all IExplorer windows

    1) START THE REGISTRY EDITOR,
Click on "START" (Bottom left of the screen) / click on: "RUN" / Type: REGEDIT, click "OK" to launch the registry editor.

    2) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings
    3) Select New > DWORD Value from the Edit menu Name the new value: MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server
    4) Right-click the MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server value and choose Modify
    5) Under Base, click the radio button next to Decimal
    6) In the Value Data: box enter the number of simultaneous connections you want to set (for example 10 is a good value), and click OK
    7) Select New > DWORD Value from the Edit menu
    Name the new value: MaxConnectionsPerServer
    8) Right-click the MaxConnectionsPerServer value and choose Modify
    9) Under Base, click the radio button next to Decimal
    10) In the Value Data: box enter the number of simultaneous connections you want to set (for example 10 is a good value), and click OK
    11) Exit the registry editor
    12) Start the IExplorer, and test it!

I strongly suggest you to test, and use FIREFOX
    ...and that's why.

    THANK YOU!

I had this tweak with my old HD, before it went kaput, and I've been unable to locate it since.

I will try this later. I have broadband and my Internet lags sometimes so I am VERY interested in this.

How is it possible for a web browser to have latent powers?

              What's wrong with it?

And I have this on mine, it makes a little bit of a difference. Stuff seems to go a little quicker.

I thought this topic was going to be about Google Web Accelerator

Oh man, I can't imagine using a browser without tabbed browsing.

The main reason I can't stand using IE, is because I can't tab.

                    Tabbed browsing is amazing.

                      Re: Speed up your Browser

Heh, I typed out a detailed response but Firefox crashed. That's ****ing ironic, man!

Basically, I like the security and speed of Firefox. Using IE on a shared family computer with my little brother on it is impossible because of all the viruses, spyware, and slowdown. It's not because of tabbed browsing.

**** tabbed browsing. I don't get what the big deal is.

It just keeps everything from getting cluttered on my taskbar.

                          Re: Speed up your Browser

I have my taskbar on the side of my monitor, so I can have like almost 30 windows open without it being 'cluttered'. And yeah, I like Firefox's security, IE is so easily bogged down with addons and spyware and everything. In Firefox, I have a menu bar, the basic buttons (Forward, Back, Refresh, Stop, and Home) and address bar, then the Google search bar (default in FF) and my most accessed bookmarks. Takes up very little space and looks nice.

Personally, I don't like tabbed browsing, never got used to it and if I ever do it, I get confused, because I'll still open new windows and such.

                            Firefox doesn't support all YTMNDs.

Neither does Safari, as it turns out. I can't even see some of my own.

                            I mean, come on.

Good thing about Firefox though, Right-Click>Open Link Target in IE. For the few things I can't view in Firefox, I just open it in IE, quick as that.
