    Special Skills Question

I thought I saw it somewhere. Is there a way where the character won't learn a skill by simply leveling but by actually having it where he obtains it from an event?

Party Control> Learn Skill (there's also forget skill)

it may not exactly be in the Party Control, but I know it's in there; I have a event that does that as well
    I love lamp.

Simply set the required level of the skill you want to give through an event to the highest level. Chances are no one will ever go that high, hence the only way to get the skill will be for you to give it to them in an event.

I guess that could work. I'll try it.

that's pretty much the only way to do it. set the learn at level to 99 then pick a point and event to learn it. i'll be using this in tsubasa when i get back to work on it. oddly enough the system works in a way that prohibits that. you can't set the level to zero or anything so that's all we got.
the legends have returned...whenever i can finish these, lol.

Another problem was that I wanted the character to actually buy the skills. I don't see that happening though, because there isn't anything anywhere that gives you an option to deny the "sale" if you don't have enough gold.

Not exatly what you were looking for but in my game you get items to class up and I've set up a character of that class with an event in front of that checks if you have the item then asks you if you want to switch. So mabey if you buy an item then go to a special skill learning spot then set up an event to take the item from you and teach you the skill. But unfortanly I don't think any thing but treasure item will work and you cant buy them sorry i couldn't help.

You could have the character buy scrolls or gems or bananas or whatever at the store and then bring the item to the event that will take it away and add the skill.

But couldn't you buy more than one of the scroll, and it will keep adding the skill?

No, you can only ad skills that are already apart of the characters class. so once it is checked on, its on. Like the book says, the command does nothing if the character already has the skill.

Well thats good then. Unfortuantly, you will still buy and "use" the item. Still it works out well.

But if you made any skills that could be taught to more than one character you would want to be able to but a scroll more than once.

Ugh. This is related to the my other post in the "Turning in an item to increase variable" thread. It's so complicated to explain.

This brings back memories of "Weapon Tickets" in my old game.

I guess it will be kinda cool. Like I'll make it so you can find special skills in ungeons by winning them off bosses or something. Or make a skill that's so ridiculous powerful but very hard to obtain. It's a cool idea I guess... just incredibly time consuming.
