I've been writing up lots of plans to the game I'm working on, and originally I'd wanted 9 party members, so that when the player did a part where he split into two teams of 4 he'd get to reject the most undesirable member to him. However, playing a game where you use all the party members in one playthrough gives the game a greater feeling of completion, because the player didn't so-to-say crap on some party member(s). So, I'm debating whether to have 8 or 9 party members. What are your thoughts on this issue?

Re: Need Some Input...
If you give the player the opportunity to play each character enough to get them all to level up a time or three, then they should have enough info to decide whom to trash.
In terms of wether to use the 8 or 9 member option or not, I'd say go with The Nine, just because it is a Tolkien reference.
Hope that helps.
Peace.
