No elemental damage properties
No food items for increasing stats
No character event conditions
No gold variable
only 100 characters
No close-up special attacks (you can turn off effects but the monster/char will only stand in place and swing their weapon).
Tons of Character portraits that don't match any of the models
Can't use monster graphics outside of battle!!!!!!
Can't do cinnematics!!!!!!
Can't even move event characters!!!!!

Oh well....I guess I still think the good outweighs the bad. These things are very dissapointing though.

I think there is a good and bad RPGM3 topic around here.

You forgot No Cows!

The topic Bigfoot mentions is HERE. (http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3165)

You can see lots more such things mingled with the good points.

Peace.

I find the slow battle system hard to just play a game. I find that discouraging.

It's really not that slow...

I guess I'm used to playing too many tactical rpg's like Fallout and Age of Wonders.

No character event conditions
Just change the character's event mode.

The load times on it suck, even when your switching through the different options.

The thing that bothers me the most is that you can't make it so you can see the monsters or enemies outside of battle unless you give them a character graphic (of which there aren't many that can be used as enemies). It is really lame trying to make a scene where you walk into a room that's supposed to contain a main enemy character and you don't even get to see this character. Instead you have to bring up a storyteller to intruduce a main bad guy, but you can't see him (just his portrait in the storyteller)!

I dunno, perhaps I was a little too hyped about RPGM3, but it seems very disappointing. The fact that you have to rely on Storyteller, really, to provide most of your cinematic sequences (not being able to move characters really limits your options) kind of, well, sucks.

Also, the portraits not matching a majority of the 3D models also irritated me. For example... in most of the portraits, the Sorceress model is a young woman. In the 3D model, she's a wicked-witch-of-the-west complete with crooked nose. No real way to write that one off ^_^;

There are some great features, and being able to walk around in 3D is awesome, but the limitations are too great. I gave up and went back to messing around on RPGM XP.

I think a different team named the portraits and the models, or something. It seems like the Fortuneteller portraits match the Sorceress model. And the Nun/Priest who are called Mystic in the models are Initiate or Heirophant in the portraits.

I think a different development team altogether did this RPG Maker game, because there are so many overlooked things in it. I personally don't like the fact that every attack/item causes loading times once in every battle.

Seriously, I haven't encountered a single problem with loading speeds and I don't even have a harddrive. The loading times in this game are less than that of rpgm2. I guess I'm just a really patient person or something because a lot of these complaints about speed and loading just don't seem to phase me.

I've noticed a considerable loading time in battles, and randomly during playtests the whole game will slow down. @_@

I never noticed load time problems at all in RPGM2 due to where and when they take place.

This game puts them everywhere.

But they don't bother me nearly as much as the on screen "Now Loading" all the time. Often it flashes briefly, which is more annoying than if it just brielfy went black.

But that's just me and I'm a Looney.

Peace.

Maybe for items and attacks in battle, but generally RPG Maker 2 takes 3 seconds or less, and only loads when heavy processes come up like changing text fonts or warping. RPG Maker 3 takes a lot longer just to switch modes in the editor. I thought that since we don't have that many graphics to deal with, that the loading times wouldn't be that bad.

With HDD you can barely notice it. ^^
