A sound byte I just recorded.

I was sitting in my room just now, hooking up my PS2, when I suddenly realized that my fan was not the only constant sound being made from within my room. I could hear a hollow whistling of some sort, faint, barely detectable by my human ears. As I continued to listen for this musical whimsy, I discerned that it was not only really happening, but that it was in fact changing what could be considered musical notes. This sound began to bother me, so I turned my table top fan off to lessen the interference, and the sound instantly died.

I turned the fan back on, and within seconds, the music came back. This freaked me out. It sounded like a low-pitched wind instrument, perhaps a clarinet, though I don't know much about wind instruments. So now that I was certain this sound was being generated because of my fan - but not emanating from my fan - I decided I must record this sound as evidence using my handy i-River MP3 player's voice recorder. The fan had to remain running, so you'll hear that most of the time, and I experimented with directions and various fan speeds, but this one position seems to bring it about on the lowest speed setting.

Just thought I'd share this with you guys. You have to concentrate on muting out the fan, and then you can hear the sound better. I think it mostly has something to do with the sort of tunnel-like positioning of my computer monitor with the computer desk. There are lots of open spaces, but it could remain 'tunnelly' enough to generate this tune.

EDIT: Well, crud. Now I can't hear it in the file. Maybe it was some kind of feedback from my speakers, but the speakers weren't even on. I wasted a topic.

They should use this for an I-River commerical. And do it exactly like those Apple Switch adds.

I think I hear it. It sounds like the fan's harmonics; i.e., a smaller, less noticeable frequency than the main frequency of the fan.
