    Towns in RPGM games...

From the perspective of a player, would it be better to have emptier towns, or have buildings that you can't enter just for decoration? Or fewer towns that are busier?
Memory is a concern, as is having anything meaningful going on...

In rpgm3, you can have up to 40 towns (and I have yet to see a console rpg that uses 40 towns) with a preset number of buildings and believe me when I say that, when filled up, there's plenty going on in rpgm3's towns. In rpgm2, you can only have a set number of blocks on a single map (something like 200) so you have to make towns smaller and more efficient or connect them together. I don't know about rpgm1 but gobli had some big towns that looked nice.

I don't like when there are a lot of houses that are locked. I either think that I'm supposed to find a key eventually, or I realize they're just there for decoration and I end up not wanting to check things because half of it is just a waste of time.
