Hey, we've got one for RPGMaker 2, and it's a great thread, so why not?
In an effort to Hate this game less, here is the first in a series of tidbits what really shoulda been in the instruction manual.
My biggest gripe about creating my party was that I had to start by choosing their weapon (like that defines who you are or something... Sheesh!).
I wanted a specific character model and could not find it because I had to know what weapon it would wield in advance.
This is the kind of structuring that makes this game annoying as hell to create with.
So here is a list of what happens when you try to make a character:
I hope this breakdown helps somebody hate it a little less than I (and I'll take this opportunity to point out that I could have forgiven a lot more if they'd only included a cow!!) (and don't think I can't have a Love/Hate relationship with this game either... there is much to love, but equally much to hate) (but I digress):
When selecting Animal you get the following character options:
Two Handed Weapon
-----Werewolf
-----Lizardman
Dagger
-----Gorilla
Naginata
-----Birdman
Other
-----Puppy
-----Mythical Beast
-----Chicken
-----Frog
-----Treant
When selecting Female you get the following character options:
Sword and Shield
-----Adventurer
-----Warrior
-----Amazon
Great Sword
-----Knight
Two Handed Weapon
-----Dwarf
Bow
-----Archer
-----Elf
Dagger
-----Child
-----Kunoichi
-----Townswoman 1
-----Townswoman 3
-----Townswoman 5
-----Townswoman 6
-----Princess
Staff
-----Sorceress
-----Mystic
-----Townswoman 2
-----Queen
-----Maid
Naginata
-----Swordswoman
Knife
-----Bellydancer (My Main Character!)
Other
-----Townswoman 4
When selecting Male you get the following character options:
Sword and Shield
-----Adventurer
-----Warrior
Great Sword
-----Knight
Two Handed Weapon
-----Dwarf
-----Townsman 5
Bow
-----Archer
-----Elf
Dagger
-----Thief
-----Child
-----Townsman 1
-----Townsman 2
-----Townsman 4
-----Prince
-----Butler
Staff
-----Sage
-----Mystic
-----Townsman 3
-----King
-----Chancellor
Katanaa
-----Samurai
-----Ninja
Tonfa
-----Fighter
Other
-----Townsman 6
I hope that helps some of us get a wee bit less irritated with this nonsense.
I would have preferred to select my character first, not my weapon. Especially because the weapon slot is not accessible and we can't see what else there is to choose without exiting (without the choice to NOT save the data) and making a new "class".
I find that set up to be not very classy. But it is what it is and I made this for my own reference.
Might as well share.
Peace.
