I've pulled my hair out more than once trying to figure this out. For some reason, I just cannot grasp how to make anything fade in or out using Flash MX. If anyone has the time, could you explain (in terms for a five year old... My brain literally can't grasp this program) how to do it? Or at least a site with a good tutorial?

Word. I know how to make objects fade in and such. Uh.. I gotta look back at the program and remind myself how to do it, though. I'll get back to you in a sec.
Okay.
1. Add whatever object into the flash that you want to fade. (text, pic, whatever) Note you have to go "Insert>New Object" and create it there, this doesnt work just with typing normal text. Once you've created it with the new object thing, go "Window>Library" and find the thing you just made, and drag it into your flash to put it in.
2. Add another keyframe. On the layer with your object, add another keyframe (the further away the keyframe is from your start point, the longer the fade goes for).
3. In the first frame the object is shown, select it. When it's selected, go to the little "Properties" bar at the bottom of the screen and look for a drop down menu that says "color". Say you want to make it fade from black to white, you would set the brightness to -100 in the first frame.
4. Select the object again, this time in the second keyframe you created for it. Do the same thing as above, but change the brightness level to either 0 (default color for the text/pic) or +100 (really bright).
5. Now select every frame from the first to the last keyframe. Just click on the first frame and drag until the second keyframe. Then under properties at the bottom of the screen, go to the drop-down menu "tween" and change it from none to motion. This will make a gradual fade between the first and last frame.
Here is an example of how I did this with some simple text: Fade.fla
If you need this to be any clearer just tell me.Last edited by Redneck 2000; 02-17-2005, 08:22 PM.
