PS2 Dex Drive Questions (Lock please)

    1) Is the Shark Port the PS2 version of the Dex Drive?

    2) Can you use a Hex Editor of some type on the save files, to read information stored in there? It's been forever since I played Mortal Kombat: Deception and I've forgotten my password. If I get a Shark Port or whatever and get the file on my computer, can I find out what my 6 button combination is?

    3) Also, other than using a Shark Port, is there any other way to read the information on the memory card? Does Action Replay have any way of checking? Or maybe a Gameshark?

    Re: PS2 Dex Drive Questions

I suggest getting a max drive. shark port and x port require you to physically connect your PS2 and your PC, which sucks. max drive is just a USB flash drive, and is easier to get ahold of currently.

check the articles section for more info on it.

as for editing stuff, there's all sorts of PS2 save editors out there. just do a google search for PS2 save tools.

Hey Valk, I can't find a Max Drive anywhere in my town. There's the Action Replay, which looks like a flash/jump drive. Do you know if it will work the same for RPGM3?

if it's called the Action Replay MAX, or MAX evo, it probably has the max drive it it. a little silver thingy with a blue plastic center.

However, the MK file is non-copy, non-move. Is it possible to put it on the Max Drive? Or will I need the Shark Port to get it off of it?

I dunno about the sharkport and xport, but the max drive will copy anything, including copy protected saves.

My friend has an Action Replay MAX, and a Max Drive. Woohoo! Now time to find a PS2 Save Editor and get back my MKD file.

              Thanks Valk!

My Best Buy has a bunch of Max Drive stuff. Like, overstock that we're trying to get rid of.

Got it on the computer and find an editor. However, I can't find any MK: D plugins. So I'd have to be able to look at the Hex values and just figure it out from there.

So... yeah. Looks like I'll be passwordless. Unless anyone knows of a way to decipher this crap?

I used a File Compare program and uploaded my save to the comp, and then made a new profile and uploaded it. Through some trial and error, I got the comparisons for the passwords in Hex. I deleted my account and compared it and according to the Hex my pass was L1 R1 L2 R2 Triangle Circle. Loaded my old file and the damn thing worked!
