    Story Modifications and downloadable content

For those who already had some sort of a story planned before RPGM3's release, has the limitations forced you to change your story?
    -----

I had planned on a Victorian aged story complete with crude firearms and 1800's style buildings. I knew this was possible because before trading my RPGM1 years ago I had experimented with this idea while working on another game. The second game didn't impress me due to the delays and graphics so I basically went on to other games. However after accidentally finding a preview of this one I instantly knew I needed to get a copy when it came out.

However due to the limitations of the maker being confined to the pre industrial age I had to go back further in my games world 1200 years (Based on a fantasy story created by me and my High school friend back in the late 90's).

    Downloadable content?

It seems to be all the rage now but do you think Agetech might make downloadable expansions available considering that you can exchange games online? By offering more selection online they would erase a lot of complaints about the limitations of this product

It's not possible with the current RPG Maker.

First, it's not broadband enabled. Also... where would this content be placed?
Agetech knowns most people don't have the HDD (because sony stopped support for me almost immediately after being release ><).

Maybe in future RPG makers though, its a really good idea.

the only thing i'd have to change would be the weapons they use and i refuse to do that, so i've come up with a different game just for this one. as long as i've got it, no RPG Maker will go to waste.
the legends have returned...whenever i can finish these, lol.

Well, at first, yes, I had my game "Dagger Ninjas" which would of gone through a lot of changes had I left the project on RPGM3. Since it was originally planned for RPGM1, I had some ideas that were possible in 1 but not 3. As soon as I heard about XP coming out though I immediately moved the project there.

Though soon after I did come up with a game to fit the RPGM3 limitations. The game will be called "The Maze of The Impossible" and plan to start working on it tonight. I worked a neat little story around what i figured was possible with RPGM3, though I haven't completed planning out the whole game, I intend to flesh it out throughout production. I also hope to have a demo ready by the 29th of October.

Agetec will not be releasing any extra content for RPG Maker 3, the game is not built to accept it.

of course not. if it was it probably would've been promoted like crazy already.
game makers usually do that with cool features like that.

true, but maybe they could come out with an expansion disc (e.g. FFXI: Chains of Promathia, HL: Coutner Strike, etc.) that could support online features? Which brings the question, has Agetec not thought about making this online compatible? It would do wonders for their sales.

i don't see how. you'd probably still have to pay a fee for that service and i'd rather just buy a forty dollar accessory and have that be it.

                  Expansion disc?

                  I don't think so.

Everyone would need the HDD to use such a thing (FFXI isn't playable without it). If they had thought of that before the release of RPGM3, the HDD would have been a requirement.

(I don't know how the HL: Counter Strike expansion worked, but i'm sure it was just a separete game on a different disc)

Though I would personaly love the idea of a theme expansion disc, it doesn't seem like they would release it. Given the few PS2s who actually have the HDD.

Re: Story Modifications and downloadable content

I have had to change a lot, as far as the character models go. But, that's why I'm putting character sketches in my manual, so people can see what the original concept looked like.

It's no big deal, though. The 2D drawings are helping to reinforce the original concept, as I'm usually able to find a close 2D drawing, if the 3D model isn't anywhere close to the character. In the end, the story, and the interaction between the characters is what will make it great.

Not quite. EverQuest Online Adventures has the Frontiers expansion, and the expansion is simply the original game with slightly better graphics, some new items and such, and a few new places including a new "continent" that's maybe 1/3 the size of the original EQOA continent.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

The only project I had more-or-less set in stone will have to undertake a few minor changes, but it shouldn't be too bad.

As for downloadable bonus content, sure, I'd download bonus content, but it seems like it's more up to Enterbrain (Agetec only translated it and gave it HDD support, if I understand correctly) to be so generous with that stuff. So far, if you want a less limiting experience, hope for a PC Maker that looks this good.

Yeah, online content would make trading games MUCH simpler. Uncrushing these files takes forever, so I usually take a good 3 hour nap, then its finally done.
