dunno about the lakes, never been near them in the winter.
the only really big body of water right by here is the grand river, which runs right by (as in, actually like 2 feet away from it) GM.
I DARE you to swim in that.
I'd have to see it before I'd be willing to accept money for jumping into it.
Ahh, General Motors. There rarely ever exists a corporation so fraudulent and greedy. I do have a few 'misdeeds' planned for the Detroit Auto Show when I get my car finished. May get me thrown in jail, but it will surely spark some major controversy if everything goes as planned.
The unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder." ~ Thomas Jefferson
say what you will about GM, they've been very good to this area, and the people here. without them, lansing wouldnt even exist in the form it does now. it'd be more like flint.
their corporate practices may suck, and they may lie out their asses, but everyone in this city owes a lot to them.
I know it's hard for some to believe, but every company has their good sides, and good people. the people running the plant my dad works at are VERY good people.
I feel they need to change their ways, especially their environmental and consumer policies.
It would only hurt Lansing if they wanted to shaft the workers and not see a decrease in profit margins, should they ever be forced to start selling EVs and people would primarily buy them. But we all know how corporations are in this day and age. Worse than they were 40 years ago, and even then, General Motors harassed Ralph Nader, wiretapping his phone and sending a private investigator to follow his every move, for no better reason than him exposing a costly problem associated with the lack of anti-roll bars on a GM produced sports car and complaining about the lack of ethics present in the Society of Automotive engineers. This sort of harassment is and was illegal, not to mention unethical.
Much to their derailment, it propelled him and that issue to near-fame. 40 years ago. They still haven't changed their ways and have continued to sink further and further...
I'll be posting something in the near future on this subject. I feel that if GM's workforce were more educated about the implications of their practices, change might occur.
