Go to storyteller mode and start the first storyteller thing, there you can pick a starting point. Took me a while to figure that out myself.

Or go to Story and Rules section, choose Story Settings, bottom left of first page is "Set start position", second page is Party Settings (members, positions, and active member).

Wow...
No offense or anything, but that was the first thing I discovered.

Yeah, i'm having a hard time figuring out how to make a party, so i can test the stuff i've been messing with.
Oh, and i am having the DAMNEST time making these nice rolling hills you see in the screen shots and the sample game. Anyone have a trick to doing that?

First make hills bigger than you want, then run over them with the Smooth tool but not enough to completely flatten them out. That should give you some nice low hills. You might want to experiment with whether Rounded, Mound, Sloped, or Bump looks better.
