    Pandemic Epics - A game for every Maker

    I got RM1 not long after it's release and have been an on-and-off Pavilionite since just months after it's creation. Have had quite a few game ideas, many of which I've posted and gotten great responses. And yet somehow I've never finished a game, never so much as released a demo.

    I currently have in my possession every American RPG Maker (havne't paid for XP yet but have the trial and will pay eventually) as well as a Dex Drive and Max Drive. So I've decided to make a game for each RPG Maker under the collective name of Pandemic Epics. So here's a description of each of the games.

    ==========================================================
    Never The Less RM1

    Story: Every god that mankind has ever conceived of does exist as long as someone believes in them but after years of war, terrorism, natural disasters, and plagues people stopped beliving in their benevolent gods and all that was left was fear that whatever controls the universe is not to be trusted. And thus the newest deity was born. It is known as The Less for it is nameless, formless, and worst of all heartless. The horrors the earth faced before pale in comparison to its reign. There are people in the world who, although they stopped believing in God like everyone else, realize that someone must believe. So they begin trying to convince people they are gods.

    Gameplay: Basically the game is about performing "miracles" to convince them that you are beyond human. Every NPC has their own personality that will reveal to you what would impress them. And since godhood is a product of belief, the more people who believe in you the more powerful you become. You can choose to remain a loner and try to convince the whole world that you are the One True God or join together with other gods-in-the-making to form a pantheon. Eventually you'll face off against The Less and other gods that aren't quite as forgotten as everyone thought. And maybe, just maybe, you'll discover the truth of who or what governs the universe.

    Ever So Humble RM2

    Story: Cedar Lane used to be the center of a quaint little suburb ,but as the city grew properties were bought, houses were torn down, and new businesses took their place. Now The Walshes' home is the only one left among the strip malls and multiplexes. The neighboring Hall-Mart wants the land to increase their parking lot and have made The Walshes a generous offer which they've decided to accept. Of course the house doesn't want to get torn down and it'll do whatever it takes to convince its family to stay.

    Gameplay: The play style will be similar to The Sims. Except you don't guide the people in the house but the house itself and the objects inside it. You'll be able to control the bulding, furniture, and appliances with the goal of making The Walshes choose to stay in the house by making them so happy they don't want to live anywhere else or frightening them with the wrath of a homocidal domicile, or whatever else you can manage.

    Living Legend RM3

    Story: The land of Telria was plunged into despair when a necromage known only as the Black Queen appeared from nowhere and conquered the land with her army of undead. She even began absorbing the souls of the kingdom's children, hoping to gain enough power to become a deity. No hero in the world is strong enough to defeat her but there was once someone who could. Kayel, the greatest hero of all time, who killed the tryannical Emporer Do'Un and single-handedly ended the War of Ages. So they bring him forth from the past to save the world once again.

    Gameplay: It's a traditional RPG, very story driven. The plot centers around Kayel's struggle to live up to the people's unrealistic expectations that are based on legends that may not be true at all. Completely open-ended. Any quest or event can be tackled whenever you choose, or not at all. Kayel's personality is determined by your actions. You begin with good/neutral/bad choices and as you progress your choices get more specific: saintly/friendly/congenial, pacifist/indifferent/apathetic, jaded/hostile/sadistic.

    Cooking Up Trouble RMXP

    Story: The "hero" went through magic school back when wizardry was a lucrative career choice but these days it just doesn't pay the bills. So he's decided to become a chef. He gets hired by a hot new restaurant but the head chef of their major rival is also a former wizard and is using magic to improve his recipes. Soon, their culinary competition becomes a true battle as they bring their dishes to life to fight for dominance. Obviously inspired by Fighting Foodons.

    Gameplay: Pokemon-style monster battle. You create your "monsters" by combining any ingredients you want and choosing the cooking method. How well the ingredients blend determines the creatures strength and how well it's cooked determines the obedience of your creation. More details to come...

              I just read a review of Geist (haven't played it, don't even have a GC) and it seems like it works a lot like Ever So Humble, except for the FPS segments of course. The review said the main problem was that there was always one right way to scare the person, a particular series of interactions you had to do, making it just your basic puzzles. Well, ESH won't have that problem at all. You'll be able to control every thing in the house at any time. There are certain combinations that will change the characters' moods by a larger amount than usual but if the mechanics work out the way I plan you may come up with combos I never even thought of.

              I'm still waiting on my game forum so I can keep running updates of each game in detail.

              Well, I just let my cousin borrow RM1 so I won't be starting with that one first. I guess I'll start with the RM3 game first but I might put together something small and simple first just to get the hang of it.
