    PSP2TV?!

I don't know if anyone's heard of this, but an organization known as "Team Xtender" (*snicker*) has been working on a very special Playstation Portable peripheral known as PSP2TV. This dealie allows you to dock the PSP and play games, watch movies, listen to music, etc. on your TV like you would any normal game console.

But here's the kicker; In addition to it's being compatible with any and all TV sets, it allows you to play using a standard Dual Shock controler, which, as you can probably guess, is dead freaking awesome.

The peripheral is nearing completion. For more information, visit the Team Extender (*snicker*) website.

Can't say I'm surprised. I wonder if it'll look good though. You'd need a wide-screen TV for one thing.
    ...and that's why.

ah ha! you know what sony needs to do now? take a page from nintendo's book and make some kind of psp player themselves(like the gameboy player for gc).

looks like someone beat them to it though.

Okay, you can hook up your portable PSP to a non-portable TV... and it can do all the stuff the PS2 already does... what are the benefits of doing this, aside from playing the PSP games on a larger screen? But, I'm pretty sure people who bought the PSP (Dave included) said they wanted it for the portability, right?

Basically most of the same benefits you'd get from the old GB game players; bigger screen and console-esque control, which isn't a very minor tweak given the differences between the PSP's face controls and the Dual Shock's scheme. Another control stick and an additional set of shoulder buttons plus the handle-y grip have a big effect on some games, Armored Core for example.

There's also the case of playing UMD movies on your TV, so you won't lose anything by skipping out on the DVD and getting the UMD, thus saving you money in the long run.

Then again, if you don't need/want any of that, you've no need for this peripheral.

Programmer, uh, thats all fine and dandy, but its not like you can use a dual shock and the two analog sticks to make games like Coded Arms easier to play, it doesnt work like that. It cant add compatibility, all it does is make your PSP LESS portable.

Eh... I guess I have probably blown it out of proportion.

Somebody went and released an adaptor that plugged GBA into TV before Nintendo's Game Boy Player. But I don't see Sony deciding to ride off the success like Nintendo did.
