    Creating Final Fantasy Styled Side-View Battles

    You guys are going to have to bear with me. I'm a total newbie. In time I will learn everything, but for now I suck and that means a lot of baby-steps for me. If you nurture me enough, I'll become so awesome that Valkysas himself will cuddle me at night.

    So here's my dilemma.

    I've decided I want to create Final Fantasy styled side-view battles. And not just the characters on the side -- I want everything set up the way Final Fantasy stuff is (minus ATB bars, etc). So look at a screen in FFIV for example in a fight, and that's what I'm looking to do. I was recommended to this link for side-view battles:

    After some tinkering and playing around with the return values and adding more characters to the battle, I ended up with this.



    So now it's a matter of getting these things "sprite-a-lized" or finding some nifty FFIV/FFVI sprite-battle-graphics.

    Can anyone help me out from this point? I could spend forever and not get it nailed down.

    Well, now that RMXP.net is fully supporting the legal translation, it might be pretty easy to request stuff there and get it made, as long as you follow the rules, and...well, follow the rules.

      Well, as you can tell from the picture the characters are intended to be small in this script as well as the monsters are intended to be more to the left, so the script is working correctly, you just gotta setup the the characters and enemies to match up the script.

          You think that's going to be bad. try animating when they use their weapons. that's going to be a challenge to animate them correctly.

            RPG Learner, would it be possible for you to use punctuation within your sentences? It's run-on central with you.

                Has anyone use the default characters as battlers? If so. how hard it is to animate them. I've know i've seen a screenshot of it here somewhere around here in the pavilion that made it possible.

                  Essentially, you're going to have to draw each frame of animation from scratch, as by default the only animations characters have are walking and dead.

                    you can find resources for animated battlers on other sites. I don't know which sites I can link to so I won't, but they're not hard to find.
