    Steamboy's out on DVD.

I guess it's been out for awhile now but I just picked it up today. I'm sure all the cool people have already seen it in theatres.

    Any comments? No spoilers.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I didn't really care for it. Nice animation and CG, but the characters and story just didn't gel with me. I'll probably be shouted down by everyone else, but that's just how I feel.

They only played it in the "obscure" theater near here (which is way to far away for leisurly movie viewing) but I got the DVD last week.

"Awesome the the MAX" is my only comment, really.

About what Nix said: I kinda agree. Other than the Steams, most of the characters felt a little flat most of the time.

Ive owned it for a while now. I loved the film, the animation was amazing, as well the story. Its uncliche'd and the voice overs fit perfectly. I highly reccomend this film, plus theres an Advent Children trailer on it.

I loved it. I love that the entire second half of the movie is one big action sequence. And sure, they're no Kaneda or Tetsuo, but I think the characters stick all right.

And even with Alfred Molina, I can't get used to the kids' annoying English accents in the dub.

The movie is only based in London.

I was really bored by it. It was pretty to look at but it was too long and the story wasn't told very well.

It would be something cool to play in the background at a party with the sound muted.

I also love Steamboy. Its carefree and whimsical attitude and breathtaking animation sent my heart soaring! That final rescue sequence with the music swelling and everything?! Gaw.

Katsuhiro Otomo LOVES destruction and I LOVE that he loves destruction. He really knows how to make a spectacle.

The way I see it Steamboy is no different than something like his manga Domu, in terms of storytelling/characterization.

If Steamboy was something I saw as a kid I'm sure it would've been my favorite movie of all time (or at least one of 'em). It's got this childlike magic to it, mainly cuz Ray Steam is the boy I wish I was. The kid's got his own damn automated workshop and what a ****in' awesome family!

Otomo needs to do more stuff more often.

As much as I love the movie, WHOever I show the movie to, they get bored and say "lets watch it later." If only poeple can see why its so great.

I have that problem with things like Steamboy. For example, I had that problem with Steamboy.

I bought the UMD, but only because somebody sold it to me for $5.

I saw it at a store once, but it was in French.

I watched it with some friends, but they ended up all falling asleep/getting bored and talking. It wasn't that great to me, anyway, the character development was kinda awkward, and like Loki said, I didn't think the story was told that well.

I really enjoyed the movie, but it's not really something that I could watch again, the movie kinda drags throughout, so one viewing was good enough for me. I saw it in the theaters, but I wont be getting the dvd.
