Five years ago today, the original RPG Maker for Playstation was released. why not go play some of the old RPGM1 games on this special day?

Also, the "Anything Goes" contest deadline is TODAY. submit your games in the submission forum before midnight to enter them. this contest will take quite a while to judge, as we're going to be playing every full game on the pavilion to decide what is the greatest game ever made with RPG Maker.

I've had some problems with the database this weekend, so if you cannot upload your game in the submission forum, e-mail it to me at webmaster @ dzarchive.com

Happy Birthday, you friggin' tool!

I'd say the entire community revolved around it, but that dosen't seem to be the case.

I believe we all revolve around ourselves. With the person above me our gas-packed dorito-loaded sun. Which blows things up at whim.

In spite of everything, if it weren't for RPG Maker, we all wouldn't even be here. Huzzah!

And I'm STILL using it! :D I'd have nothing to do right now if it weren't for the best game out there! Oh yes, y'all know its true!

I wish my Dex Drive still worked. I'm sure I'd still be making and playing stuff with RPGM1 if it did.

It's kind of interesting that so many important RPGM related events are connected to September, especially this year.

We got RPGMXP released legally a couple days ago, and in a couple more we'll have a new console maker coming out. Then there's the contest (Is it a coincidence that the deadline for the contest is the same day as RPGM1's original release date?). And to top it all off, we got the anniversary of RPGM1's release.

Personally, I say we make September something of an official Pavilion holiday, if only a time for everyone to put a little extra time in with all of RPGM's different versions. Maybe in the future have some sort of award event or something each year, mainly just for offering recognition, probably no prizes or anything, just a thing for people who release new material over the past year to look forward to.

I released my contest game "Cursed Desires" out for RPGM1.

5 years old and people are still making games. It is amazing. :)

Is it a coincidence that the deadline for the contest is the same day as RPGM1's original release date?

No. as long as I'm running the pavilion, the big contests will always end on one of the RPG Maker release dates (9/18, 9/20, 10/28) depending on which maker the contest focuses on. anything involving all 3 will always end on 9/18.

It works out nicely that way, since people will always have the summer to work on their contest submissions.

Indeed time flies. I was 15 when I bought my copy. My half brother and I went out to Scott Airforce Base to work, and I snagged a copy on the way there and read the instruction manual while there. This was one day after it came out, I believe on a Friday.

Crazy stuff. I never imagined this place would still be around, especially in my absence and have such great people willing to maintain it. I just want to thank you guys for making this place someplace special, and with a new era of RPG Maker games, I can't wait to play all of your games and to share my own.

Good ol' RPG Maker 1.

After playing with RPG Maker 3 a little, I wanted to play RPG Maker for a bit.

Mainly because the main character in my RPGM3 game is a character from my RPGM1 game...I wanted to check the characters abilities and stats and stuff to use as a base.

Anyway, it was quite awesome. I never finished my RPGM1 game, but it was fun to look at everything again. I was also reminded of how weird I was...I made some WEIRD areas in my game.
