So, the Workshop section says that there's something like 27 posts/topics here, yet there's nothing. Probably due to that attack, I assume.
Anyway, who is still using RPGM1, despite RMXP's release?

I am, and I'm probably going to use RPG Maker 2 after my Monkey Brother game. Good enough reply?

I'm still using RPGM1! And I still will be after XPs release, because I have 3 ongoing RPGM1 projects. And also 2 other games, one for each of the PS2 Makers.

I no longer have RPG Maker 1 and 2. I am glad that RPG Maker XP released legally in English. Console version is hard to make with controller. Also I couldn't make any games with RPG Maker 2 as it is waaaay too hard.
RPG Maker XP is much easier to use with keyboard and mouse. I am going to pay $60 for it. Can't wait for 1 and half week for my payday. :)

You can go ahead and download it now. You get a 30-free trial before you have to pay for it.

I'm still using it. As a matter of fact I'm still working on my game Shadow of Pride (formely know as A Soldier's Shadow).

Hm, very few people indeed. The major turn off of working on my RPG Maker game is that I feel like I'm stuck in the past. It just feels like I should've moved on or something.

RPGM1 was great but it's popularity has kinda passed. after working with the others using a keyboard depite it's awesomeness i can't go back to enetering every single line of dialogue with a standard controller. never gonna get rid of my copy though. those i don't use i collect. now i'm waiting for the new RPG Maker to come along to remake my old RPGM1 games with, all of which have been lost to time. and yeah, it does seem SLIGHTLY outdated.
i'd still use it though if it wasn't for the controller to enter text...

I tried to use it last night and had the same problem, don't know how I put up with it all those years (Probably because I had to put up with it...). It's sad too, RPGM3 really inspired me to make a game with RPGM1 for some reason...

I agree with you 100%. I have a great game planned for RPGM1. I'll release a demo soon..

One Day, they will get smart and make an RPG maker that plays all previous
RPGM games, so youll be able to play RPGM 1 games in Beautiful up-to-date 3D, or in some really new cool suedo 2D/3D mode, or comic book artsy style, or cortoony cell-shaded stayle.

but then people wouldnt spend extra money to buy previous makers so that they could play good games. duh!

It's not like the company is going to make money off of people buying used copies of those games.

I would have to disagree with ya there, RPGM2 (the least apreciated) is the best RPGM always.

Okay, I'm afraid to say I'm done with RPGM1. Not because of RMXP, though. I figure, after dealing with it for four years, it's time to actually make something on RPGM2/3/XP.
The good news is, this means my memory cards won't be used for my work, which means that I'll be able to play RPGM1 games sometime. I just need to get out of my RPGM3/XP fix.

Yeah, Monkey Brothers is going to be the last game I'll make for RPG Maker. I almost feel like ditching the project since I just feel RPG Maker 1 is out dated. However, if I did that, I'd feel saddened. :(

I say finish whatever game you're working on. Just because RPGM is out of date doesn't mean you should throw away the hours/days/months of work you've put into your game so far.
Only I can do something stupid like that.:)

Well im too stupid for RPGM2, RPGM3 looks cool but i dont want to buy that yet, and RPGMXP also looks too hard so i guess im stuck with RPGM1. Well thats alright i love the first one and i am working on a game thats gonna be really cool and i will not delete this one i swear...
I need a dexdrive *sigh*

Isnt the scripting for RPGMXP like RPGM2. I looked at a screenshot of someone scripting on it and it didnt look to easy.

I still have to get RPG Maker 1. But I plan on making atelast one game for each of the rpg makers. I am sure that I will still be building games/game (atleast) with it.

I recommend trying out the trial to see just how easy or hard it is. I find myself way less confused with RMXP than I do with RPGM2.

About a year ago, I made a game for a friend of mine intending on letting him keep the memory card and giving me back my RPGM1 disk. He loved the game so much that he wanted to keep the disk. :) I can't wait to buy RPGM3 (probably this week sometime)

Well, I don't mind if people don't use RPG Maker. Just as long as the people here don't ignore the games that are being made for it I'll feel fine.

So this is where all the old guys hang out?
We need to all make a RPG Maker 1 game again! I still love this RPG Maker!
Always will too! God, we had so much fun when this game came out! I remember how excited we all were! Finding new stuff everyday! It was awesome!
Sorry, I get excited just remembering it!

I want to make one. I have this big thing planned that I don't think anybody else has done. Problems are, I don't know for certain if it would work, and I have to come up with a new story to go with it, but I've been having too much trouble coming up with new storylines for a while.

I won't be making another game for RPGM1. Can't do without keyboard functions :)

Yeah, a few months ago I had the urge to do something with RPGM1 one last time. Then I made it to a texting scene. I then realized that I do not want to go back.

It is indeed, quite empty in here. I mean, the last post was 7 months ago.
It's a shame, because I was recently inspired with a relatively good plot and desired to pick up RPGM1 again, but i'm afraid that because RPGM1 is so old it'll go overlooked. I feel old.

RPGM1 games are still very popular here. the workshop forum is empty only because people don't need help with it anymore.

It appears people mostly have quit making games with RPGM1, thinking that it has been fully tapped and knowing that much better software now exists.
However, many still use it to play games.
I don't think RPGM1 has been near fully tapped. I know exactly how to make strategy RPGs with it and first person dungeon crawlers with it, for instance. Do I want to? No. But if I wanted to I most certainly could. But those things could also be done on RPGM2 with a greater degree of sophistication and aesthetic appeal, but also more time and effort spent.

I'm still working on one, though not very often. It's just that I have one or two other ideas for RPGM2 that I want to get done with, first.
And Terr, please don't give me any ideas. I've got too many of them I probably won't be using, as is.

For me, it's the lack of Keyboard support that does this system in. Oh, and the variables instead of switches. (I love internal variables, it sucks to have to use a notebook tallying how many switches I used.)
Draygone
07-08-2006, 03:05 PM
I never really felt bothered about the lack of any in-game method of keeping track of Switch use, even when using "Item Variables" at the same time. All I need is a sheet of paper and a pencil.
