Re: PSP gains its killer app - Suikoden 1 + 2
Right now the PSP really has a downright ****ty selection of games (And some of the games that are in that selection are pretty dissappointing, too), but there's lots of good stuff on the way.
I kind of thought GTA:LCS was going to be a "killer app". I'm mainly waiting for it, and for some of the older games, like Lumines, to drop in price.
$40 is pretty steep for a handheld. The last time I bought a game was Rise of the Kasai, for PS2, and I spent $35 in store credit from trade-ins and $5 cash for it.

I hate when people say stuff like this. "I'm totally a hardcore gamer, but I hate having to spend money on games. I either pirate all my games or wait until 5 years after they come out and get them cheap!!11"$40 is pretty steep for a handheld. $40 is not steep for a game. If a game you really want comes out, work overtime at your job (assuming you have one) to pay for it. As an apathetic teenager I make enough money in 3 hours to buy a $40 game. I like games enough that I will work 3 hours to pay for a game that will likely give me 40+ hours of enjoyment.
Your point about lack of big selection on PSP is true, but not that $40 is way too steep for a game. If you think $40 is an outlandish price for a game you should probably take up another hobby, like collecting leaves. Especially since next-gen games are expected to cost upwards of $70 (but you'll probably fool them by waiting a couple years until they cost $20!).
When games start to cost $100 a piece, then you can complain. Right now we have it pretty sweet.

Re: PSP gains its killer app - Suikoden 1 + 2
What I'm saying is that it takes alot to make me excited enough about something in the way of video games for me to spend $40-50. I'm saying that those games will still be there, and alot cheaper, a few months from now, and I'll be there to buy them then, or maybe not. I am also saying that it's hard to imagine paying $40 for something I'm not going to play much, anyway. The only times I play handhelds are A) times when I'm expecting a long wait and B) when I feel like multitasking (Watching a TV show and playing a video game at the same time, usually puting the game on mute and listening to the show).I hate when people say stuff like this. "I'm totally a hardcore gamer, but I hate having to spend money on games. I either pirate all my games or wait until 5 years after they come out and get them cheap!!11"

Plus, I'd much rather buy two games for $20 each, than one game for $40.
And also, where do you make $10-15 an hour at a starting level job? Oh, wait, I live in Montana and you probably live in New York or something. I'd love to make $40 in wages, tips, and reimbursement every three hours.
