    Tokyo Game Show 2005

Any idea on whether or not Enterbrain will be showing off a version of RPG Maker for the PS3? They are scheduled to be there, as exhibitors. What other games might they be showing off?

I have a feeling RPGM4 maybe made for one of the cheaper consoles, like xbox360 or revo, since most japanese developers are flocking to 360.

To behonest, i havent seen "most" japanese developers flocking to the 360, i've seen a few extra developers taking interest in the 360, but MOST developers are still flocking to the PS3.

I don't think the next RPG Maker is enough along to be showing off at TGS.

I'm not going to mention XP's release on the site. go ahead and announce it everywhere you want, including here. but I'm not going to mention it's release anywhere on the pavilion, or at agetec's forums.

            why?

Enterbrain has had the english version XP done for a long time, close to a year. they sat around with it, and are releasing it just days before agetec releases RPG maker 3. sure looks like they're competing with their business partners. the people who established the RPG Maker market in the US, the people who helped them develop RPG Maker 2. and here comes enterbrain, riding on RPG Maker 3's publicity (RPGM3 will have a lot of internet advertising starting soon) for free, trying to steal sales away from 3 (there is NO other reason they'd release it just days before 3). I'm sure enterbrain is also counting on the pavilion and mag to promote XP as well.

            well, screw that.

of course, I'm not saying not to buy it, I'm gonna buy it. I'm just not gonna promote it.

Well, I don't know about here, but at the mag we're seriously considering different ways to promote xp material less than RM3. Anything from not hosting it and only reviewing to just not letting any XP game win contests or game of the month or whatever.

Or you can be like me, someone who doesn't have ps2 so you're force to buy RMXP.

I dont understand why Enterbrain would do something like that. They are messing up sales of their own game, i mean, dont they still make money off of RPGMaker3 when it is sold in the US?

Doesnt make much sense to me, but i'm getting 3, so it doesnt matter.

XP is 100% profit for them, as there's no marketing and no manufacturing.

they can make money off both.

wow... I really didn't think of it like that. I knew that Agetec had nothing to do with the translation but I didn't think about the competition between Enterbrain and Agetec. Seems like a strange business plan.

I figured that something was up with the two release dates being so close together, too. So, you say that the translation and everything was finished last year? AND THEY WENT AND MADE US WAIT THIS LONG TO GET A US RELEASE?

                            Eh, I'm still getting both.

Just so everyone knows, Enterbrain was on the list of release titles for the PS3, in Japan. It wasn't RPG Maker 4, though...it was a game called Derby Stallion.

So, hopefully, as we get closer to the release of the PS3 in Japan, Enterbrain can come out and admit that they are working on it. I hope they are, at least.
