I was sitting around at work today, exchanging idle chat with my boss when I got to thinking about making a Silent Hill fanfic on XP. Something like Silent Hill 1.5.
Here's the premise:
A couple years after Harry's experience in Silent Hill, he's raising Heather and has managed to put much of the trauma behind him. He's made a new start, with a new house, new job. Life has returned more-or-less to normal for him, aside from the occasional flash-back or nightmare, as well as the continual concern at what kind of person Heather will become.
One day a woman comes to his door, saying that she was a previous owner of the house he now lives in. She says her name is Maria and asks to come in for awhile. He reluctantly invites her in, and the two talk for a little while. She talks about her experiences in the house, and seems at times more interested in Harry than the house. She leaves, and Harry thinks little of it, until that night.
Harry has a dream that he's back in Dark Silent Hill, being chased by something, though he's not sure what it is. All he knows is that something, or someone is chasing him. He then comes to a dead end and turns to face his pursuer. He's stabbed in the back by an enormous butcher's knife, wielded by the infamous Pyramid Head.
He wakes up in the hospital. He was brought in by his psychiatrist, who was paying him a visit, and found him laying in his bed, soaked in blood from a wound eerily similar to the one he took in the dream.
That's the extent of my idea, so far.
With the right graphics and sound I could probably make it pretty decent. I figure that I could use non-random battles, with RPG-style combat. Harry would obviously have access to numerous weapons and items, and I would do no less for fans than to keep the town exploration elements that in many ways made the first two great.
Does anybody know of places where I could gain access to good modern horror tilesets, by any chance? Either that or is anybody interested in making some? Then there's CGI movies. In fact, if anybody is interested in coming up with some SH graphics, let me know here.
I'm thinking the inspiration for the monster list would draw on the entire series' variety, probably with an emphasis on SH2.
As it is, if I can't get good graphics, it'll be hardly worth my effort, though.
