    animation video

I created a test video of one of my characters in ARW (click my sig image to read the web-comic). You can watch it here.

As I get better with the equipment in the lab at school (I'm taking animation courses) I'll post some more stuff. I hope you at least find it interesting even if it's not that great. It is my first attempt at animation.

    It's cute!

    Tips for future projects:

Unless they were hanging in a steel-stringed harness, no one's head and upper body would stay in roughly the same spot while they thrust a spear and raise their legs. It's tough to tell what she's actually doing.

In order for an animation to appear natural, there should be no superfluous movements. Why does the character's chest expand in this animation? In most cases, an unnatural movement is worse than no movement.

nice~ i always who ever makes an animation, i all respect them.

i think it is quite good with the sound and smooth movement.

Thanks for commenting. I know the animation doesn't look right. I'll try to act out the scene in the future in order to get the motion to look more realistic.

          Just watched your video.

That's great for a first effort. Others mentioned the only flaws, so I just get to say good things!

It shows that you are getting the basics down.

I can't wait to see some inked and colored stuff.

With your creativity you should make an outstanding animator. Keep at it.

I envy your access to all those great tools.

Do you have any "short features" planned (or required for classes)?

          Peace.

          MOO!

            Re: animation video

I found out today that I have to make two five-second videos and one ten-second video before December. These will be experimental (non-traditional) animations. I'll post them here as I make them.

I also have to make several traditional animations. The first few are simple stuff (make a ball bounce, show grass blowing in the wind, etc.), but I'll have funner stuff to do later and I'll post that as well.

Next term I'll have to make some longer animations and will have a chance to enter them in a national contest for prizes. I'm going to be pretty busy, but this will be fun as well.

Glad you liked my work. I'll post more as I create it.

              Re: animation video

              Update:
I changed Racheal a little so it looks better but still not quite right.

I've also added a Ball demo I had to do for class. This animation took a bit more effort and looks pretty good, if I do say so myself.

                Update:

Experimental film 1: Racheal is fighting a guard in this scene. The scene was filmed frame by frame using a still camera. I made paper marionettes of the two figures and put them on a background.

Here's another animation file called Butterfly Fairy, which was made by drawing images on a chalk board and linking the images together so it looks like they move.
