    Japan

I never thought I'd go to Japan, in fact I never really had any motivation to do so either. Last week though, I found out I'm getting the oppertuinity to go to Kyushu for 2 weeks for a wrestling competition. I'll be in the freestyle wrestling championships in Nagasaki, which is neat.

I figured I should learn some Japanese while I have the time, so what do you guys suggest? My school doesn't offer any Japanese classes, so I was thinking about buying one of those learn japanese programs.

Perhaps some of you guys could suggest stuff I could do while I'm there also?

            I wanna go to Japan

I also wanna learn Japanese. Do they only teach it in like... colleges and stuff? I'm only 14 so.. yeah. I don't really wanna try teaching myself with books cuz I'll just end up worse than I started. I'm gonna have to talk to my parents and do some checking around.

By the way, I DO know a little japanese. Hooray for limewire + anime songs ^.^

I memorize the lyrics to pretty much any japanese song if I listen to it enough, yet I can't speak a word of japanese other than a few phrases =p

Knowing the language is handy, but I don't think it's super necessary. Honestly, you could probably get by with a phrase book. Every other sign there is in English, and EVERY sign at the Japanese railway station has Japanse and English, so you'll at least be able to figure out where you're going. Other than that all you need to know is "Which way is the toilet," and "I'll have one of these." Also, more than half of all airport employees there know English. That goes for McDonald's and MOS Burger employees, too.

Other than that, just do a little research before hand. This book is rather informative in particular, and it helped me out.

                Those WACKY Japanese!

I could imagine myself easily spending $50 on a crane like that. Or more. That machine is awesome!

Since you wrestle then a public bath house (or onsen) should be no big deal for you. Danglin' your wang around freely in public hot water with other naked men is relaxing as hell.

Don't be like Butters' dad though.

And there are some bookstores there where you can stock up on some inexpensive GBA and DS games, y'know, backwards-compatible stuff. Try out the UFO Catchers too! I almost won Kaneda's bike...

Are you gonna be free to travel around? If so, I recommend Kyoto and Nikkoh. Visit the temples there if you like... uh, BEAUTY.

And if you see a copy of JFK: The Manga, PLEASE ask about it and try to find out where you can purchase a copy.

Kyoto buses were emblazoned with Mario Kart graphics when I was there.

                          Yes. Emblazoned.
