I just started playing this and boy, am I having fun! Although, I played it for 5 hours straight (with just like, 5 minute breaks to check for new posts on the pavilion) and only made it a little ways into the game. I'm currently at the shinra building on the plate thingy. Did it take anyone else this long to progress through the game?

My brother was 10 hours when he made it out of Midgar.
Longest I took was 7, and that was with massive leveling inside the Shinra HQ.
I think my best time to make it all the way out of Midgar was 2 hours 7 minutes.

ive beaten the game a billion times. the first time i rented ff7 i didnt own a memory card so i left the consle on for the entire time and i made it up intil the last boss in shinra hq before i died, and i died only becuase i didnt equip any long distance stuff but it took me a good 8 hours or so to get that far (in acual playing time).

i ususaly take 5-6 hours to get out of midgar this days, i get everything and have a system i go through to get the best of everything. i might play it again soon becuase i miss it horribly for some wierd reason.

just like the lord of the rings, i ususaly play the game through every year just becuase i enjoy feeling the nestalga i get when i hit cirtin parts.

It's a pretty long game (especially your first time through and if you do all the awesome side quests) and if you're having fun who cares how long it takes?

I remember my first time through. It took me days to get out of Midgar. But with Final Fantasy 7 spending that much time on the game isn't a bad thing.

here's a rare item for you: vaygrisk claw. i believe there's one place and one chance to get it.

right after the mythril mines & before junon, at fort condor the first time, during the mountain battle, let the boss character encounter your party so you have to physically fight him off. i think he drops it, and that's it. only place.

Hahah, I as well am playing this game. I already have a, "master" file where I have everyone's final weapon+limit breaks learned (including Aeris when I had her). I beat Emerald and Ruby weapon. Got everyone to level 99. I decided to start a new file last night. The story to me is the best in all of the land. Emo clone my ass.... Who do you like to use, I like to use....
Cloud- Omni-Slash and his high magic stats. (You have to use him anyway)
Tifa- She kicks all ass. Her limits are top notch awesome.
Cid- His final limit break is awesome. His stats are average too.

What does the Vagryisks (spell check) Claw do? Is it a weapon for Tifa, and is the boss hard?

NO!! I was playing, and was finishing up the shinra building, I beat the robots Barett, Aeris, and Red XIII, then I beat the dude that Cloud has to fight, and, without thinking, I didn't save, I just talked to Tifa. So it took me to the cool motorcycle game and then... I DIED AT THE BOSS!!!! I GOTTA DO IT ALL OVER!!

it's actually not all that useful. it casts petrify if i remember correctly. on just a single opponent. so, you know.. not all that amazing, but still rare.

Yeah, I recently played through this game again, went to the last part with Cloud Tifa and Vincent slotted with HP Plus, Long Range, Enemy Skill, 4x Cut, and 12 Counter Attacks each. That's a slaughterfest and a half.

It's fun to get all 6 of Cloud's Limit breaks before even leaving Midgar. If Tifa isn't an incentive to play FF7 I don't know what is.

I dont care for the game. it's better than 8, but thats not saying much.

its an okay story, but a god-awful game. too slow, and moved too far away from what makes "Final Fantasy" what it is. namely... the fantasy.

Yes, I think that Final Fantasy 7 should be different. After 7 they made that horrible emo concert game FF8, but then went back to good ol' Final Fantasy with 9. Kind of. I liked 9, the only things that bothered me is that everyone looked like kids. 10 was waaaayy to dramatic for me. As soon as I heard in the beginning, "this is my story" I thought, oh god here we go. I liked FF 10, it just doesnt have any replay value since you cant skip the ever-so-frequent cutscenes. FF 10-2 was a disgrace. But nonetheless....

I've used everyone, but i'd have to say Tifa and Cid are the best for their final limits dont suck horrendously. And for what omni said, I love getting all 6 limit breaks and then fighting Rufus. Meteorrain his ass.

On the note of FF7, has anyone played Ehrgeiz? That game was horrible, yet fun.
