Yes this topic has been done to death, so let's change it up a little. Instead of talking about how you picked your name, let's discuss how attached you are to it, and what it means to you.
After a long time I've come back to "Loki," though I never really stoped using it. Long after I had become Lokio, The Solitary Cactus, Monkey King or what have you, I used Loki as my main character in RPGs, MMORPGs, Term papers, and any other place I didn't want to use my real name. But in a way it's become like a real name to me. The word has become something I call myself and use to define myself. And I didn't even like it when I first picked it.
Back when the Pavilion first started I didn't have a constant handle I used on the web. I wanted something orginal but I couldn't think of anything that sounded cool. I picked Loki because he's the Norse god of trickery and I've always liked the trickster gods. But I never really felt that Loki was an inspired choice and that I picked it out of lazyness and lack of creativity. Obviously it's really grown on me and it's become more than just a mythic reference but a unquie discription of me as well.
Has this happened to anyone else. I'm sure that Valk and Kire and Mora and others have become attached to their names, but what about people like RPGProgramer or Dreamknight? I'm curious to hear how you consider the name you named yourself and what it means to you.
