    The name topic

Yes this topic has been done to death, so let's change it up a little. Instead of talking about how you picked your name, let's discuss how attached you are to it, and what it means to you.

After a long time I've come back to "Loki," though I never really stoped using it. Long after I had become Lokio, The Solitary Cactus, Monkey King or what have you, I used Loki as my main character in RPGs, MMORPGs, Term papers, and any other place I didn't want to use my real name. But in a way it's become like a real name to me. The word has become something I call myself and use to define myself. And I didn't even like it when I first picked it.

Back when the Pavilion first started I didn't have a constant handle I used on the web. I wanted something orginal but I couldn't think of anything that sounded cool. I picked Loki because he's the Norse god of trickery and I've always liked the trickster gods. But I never really felt that Loki was an inspired choice and that I picked it out of lazyness and lack of creativity. Obviously it's really grown on me and it's become more than just a mythic reference but a unquie discription of me as well.

Has this happened to anyone else. I'm sure that Valk and Kire and Mora and others have become attached to their names, but what about people like RPGProgramer or Dreamknight? I'm curious to hear how you consider the name you named yourself and what it means to you.

Mine, I just saw it in a manga when I was younger (legend of lemnear), and thought it looked cool. for the first few months at agetec, I just used the name "someone", and then one day I was going through some stuff, found one of the lemnear mangas, and thought I'd take the name of one of the villains from the series.

I've tried changing my name several times (not here though), but it always goes back to Valkysas. don't think it will ever change.

My name is my bass playing alias name. It's a personna I go into when I play bass. I also use Lord Mofop in RPG's and us the word fop (funk/jive). I've become quite attached to it.

Magus from Chrono Trigger and my first initial.

Doesn't look like it's gonna go away till I get a professional e-mail address or something.

Not attached, just don't feel like updating all my profiles and stuff to reflect a change in screen name.

Mine was a suitable, yet ambiguous and inconspicuous name I chose on short notice when I started at GameFAQs. It stuck. Like this.

I've had the same name since I got here. I don't think I'd ever change it permantly, but I wouldn't mind a makeover by an extremely bored admin.

And on a sidenote, best pavilion username... "gray". Nice and simple. Discuss.

I've actually grown quite fond of my name, though I've tried to change it on multiple occasions cause I get bored like that. Never works, though. I don't think it's actually possible to change your alias when a bunch of people activly call you by it.

At one point I was very fond and attached to my handle, now I dont care for it anymore. I ave thought about changing it. Its just such a pain to do though. This is what I am known as and even if I did change it, people would still call me Snarf.

I like Nixon better than my real name. I almost wish people would call me that in real life.

I can say that I do wish I had choosen a different name...but I would have no idea to what it is.

I am "Dreamknight", "Dreamy" or "DK" to everyone here, no matter what screenname I may try to use, whether I like it or not, so I guess when it comes down to it I could do a lot worse.

You know, like "John Mora" worse.

                              Re: The name topic

At the Cheat World forums way back in 98' or 99', I wanted to register to post in the Pokemon forum, and I chose the name of my favorite Pokemon, Slowpoke. There was a fad where everyone made EzBoards, and the name Slowpoke was taken by some dude at a car forum. I made two names, TheSlowPoke and MasterSlowPoke, the former for posting, and the latter for administration of the EzBoard. The fad died quickly, and I eventually left Cheat World. I posted as Slowpoke on Olaf van der Spek's forums for his Tiberian Sun modding tools, and at DiabloII.net, I think. I made a couple of batch tools for Tiberian Sun, along with a mod. I redid my EzBoard because I actually thought people would care about what I made. It had maybe 20 posts, but alternating between TheSlowPoke and MasterSlowPoke got annoying, so I ditched TheSlowPoke. I eventually came here, and seeing as it was an EzBoard, I used one MasterSlowPoke. It's original and I like it.

My sig came from Cheat Planet too. There was a post "What kind of Pokemon Master are you!" and it was really stupid. I was playing around with a Gameshark and was one of those people who attempted to index all the invalid pokemon numbers, so I declared myself The Glitchy Pokemon Master, and I stuck it in my sig there because everyone else did it. I just never removed it, and keep it whereever I go.

I doubt I'll ever change it, mostly because when other people make new screennames I get mad. It's pointless and just a pain for everyone else. There was a short time I wanted to change to "Thrillhouse" but I never got around to it.
