    Fighter Maker

I went to a local EB games the other day and saw Fighter Maker made by Agetec. By looking at the package it looked pretty confusing but does anyone recommend this?

I didnt much care for Fighter Maker 1, because you cant customize your character's appearance (you just pick from a list). fighter maker 2, there's an actual character creation engine. the animation and move systems are more advanced too.

neither fighter maker allows for the creation of projectile attacks, or weapons.

I haven't played it so I dunno. I kinda wanted to get it too but I decided it would just be a waste of time. I wish there were an action/adventure maker or co-op sidescroller maker.

Yeah, Fighter Maker 1 I think holds the record for least time spent between being bought and sold back to the store in my case.

I'd say wait and see how Soul Caliber 3's custom fighter mode works (this way the system's fantastic and already made for you).

but in SC3 you cant have your character being attacked by an invisible ghost while they attempt to fight.

you cant have a fighter with every bone in his body broken, which allws his limbs to function like nunchaku.

you cant have a fighter jump up, and then contort herself into a "tank".

you can't make someone's head absorb the opponents head, and then whip them around.

you can't make a turtle jesus.

you can't have every move be whatever the hell you want, even perverse sexual things.

              Re: Fighter Maker

I have the first fighter maker and made one fighter out of it with a few moves. I found it hard to get the parts in the position that I wanted them in. The PS controller is a terrible medium for adjusting limbs on 3D characters, worse being that I did some minor work in 3D animation and knowing how much easier it is to do on the computer with cheap 3D software (well, cheap for 3D software).

I bought the second fighter maker and right when I got on it, it immediately reminded me of the headaches I went through with the first game and quickly returned it the following day.

It was neat making your own fighter though, the guy I made would bounce up and down on his right toes and do various flying moves. I remember trying to make an attack where he would zip back and forth all over the screen, but I found it hard to make his hit land on the opponent, but it was a cool looking move.

Thinking about it kinda makes me want to try the game out again...

I thought it sucked, I mean, the character move creation was deep. How you could make animations and such, but everything else was just bland, you dont even make your own fighting game. You pretty much create characters for an already exsisting one.

Kire used to play fighter maker. in fact he had a site before the pavilion called the fighter maker dojo.

now he's a professional video game animator.

                    coincidence?

                      Re: Fighter Maker

I think the next Fighter maker would be served well by allowing the player to make their own weapons. I fancy making a fighting game about rednecks, with characters from the New Red Green Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, Smokeyand the Bandit, The Dukes of Hazard, among others. Imagine being able to play as a shotgun-wielding granny, capable of blowing someone's brains out, or as a Grizzly Bear drunk on moonshine. Imagine animating all their attacks and the hilarity that would ensue.

                      Would that not be awesome?

A long time ago before it came out, I wanted to make 2 games with that thing, Hippy Hunt Fighter, and Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. But you cant even make a game. So...yeah.

                          Re: Fighter Maker

I got it like 3 months ago. I planned on using it soon but with RPG maker 3 coming out I am not sure.

From what I have done so far it seemed pretty fun. Although it takes a whole lot of memory on your card to use. It said you could make 6 characters. I deleted half the stuff I had and I still only got 3 characters on. So if you plan on having all 6 characters have a seperate memory card if you are using that. I am not sure if you can use the flash memory thing. I bet you could though. That would make it have plenty of room. But I don't have one yet. So I don't know. I am probably getting one in less than a month though.

If they do release a fighter maker 3 in the U.S. then I would get it. Especially if it had weapons and missiles that you can shoot at people.

                            Re: Fighter Maker

I LOVE Fighter Maker 2! That is an awesome game. SC3 probably won't allow you to be really creative with your fighters like FM2 will. And the best part is, you can make a fully functional fighter in one day with that game! And then you can go back and tweak the moves to be like, over dramatic and powerful.

The only problems with that game was the fact that you just create fighters and not the actual structure of a fighting game(heck, you can't even touch the arcade lineup) and that you couldn't use special effects/advanced fighting game mechanics. They need to make a Fighter Maker game as advanced as RPG Maker 2 was, and that'd be the end of it.

fighter maker series is most likely over, due to low sales.
