    RPG Maker 4...genre change?

I was just wondering if anyone would want a genre change with the next version of RPG Maker? If so, what would you want? Or, maybe you'd like a certain setting in time added, instead of just the middle ages?

i think they should make it easier to transition from traditional RPG to an action RPG.

I think they should include all, it couldnt be that hard, its not like there is a difference between midevil grass and western grass.

Of course grass doesn't change. The models would, though. A bartender in the Wild West is different than an Innkeeper in a town of the middle ages. So is the building, and the town the building is in.

        That's what I meant.

Not exactly, I can imagine using some guy with a white shirt and tie being at both.

Ties aren't an invention of the Middle Ages.

That's exactly the kind of stuff designers of the game would have to focus on, if they wanted to include another genre in the game, though, or dump the fantasy genre entirely.

It's the details of a game world that immerse you during a game session. Of course you can design a game in the wild west with RPG Maker 3, but to make it come alive you would need the models necessary to bring that vision to life.

I'm with you, though, details shouldn't get in the way of any story. I'm really only curious if people want a new genre type with the next RPG Maker game.

i think having enviornment changes & character variety in the same vein of chrono trigger would be best.

you have your medieval setting, apocalyptic future setting, pre-historic setting, ice age/magical utopian society setting. i think that about covers it all aside from the whole western theme.

I've not played Chrono Trigger, but if you mean having them all in the same game, that would be very cool.

I usually play computer RPG's (Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Morrowind, Ultima, Bard's Tale, etc.), although I did play Final Fantasy on the Dreamcast.

I think it'd be great if they just added some modern style enviroment choices and objects from the other settings. A combination of modern and medieval should be able to simulate whatever era you're going for if you have the right objects to put in it.
