View Full Version : RPG Maker 3 Update

RPG Maker 3 hits the RPG Maker Pavilion and RPG Maker Magazine Friday, September 9th.
If you have specific questions about anything, or want me to try to do certain things and report back, then post in this topic:
http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2861, (there is a similar topic at the mag) and then watch for answers to your questions to appear in an upcoming topic in RPG Maker General, that only pavilion staff will be able to reply to, so no one has to hunt through a massive topic of questions just to find some real information.
I will provide scans of everything in the package that I consider interesting, but I am NOT able to take screenshots. Not to fear, starting monday the RPG Maker Magazine (http://www.rpgmmag.com)'s Oblivion Dragon and our pavilion daddy Kire will be supplying screenshots and movies. The Mag will also be doing load time tests with the hard drive, versus without the hard drive and see just how worthwhile the PS2 HDD is, and if it's really something anyone should consider getting for RPGM3.
We'll be working together on this coverage, so you can expect a lot of Pavilion/Magazine information cross-overs, and probably some cross-posting too.
So make sure that you check both sites through the weekend, and next week. I'm pretty sure me and Ixzion can get all the main information covered through the weekend, and then next week will probably be dedicated to an onslaught of screenshots and movies.
Information gathered from RPGM3 will NOT be posted on the front page. watch the forum. I'll be there all day.

Be sure to give as much info on how it works as possible. I won't be able to get this for a few months, and I'd like to at least get everything planned out, and see what I can do with this.

ah, I'll go into everything as far as I can. anyone who remembers my advance coverage of RPGM2 knows what to expect. I'll scan things from the manual that may be of importance, I'll transcribe event options, character and monster lists, stuff like that.
and when kire gets his copy, we'll have screenshots to go along with it all.
you'll likely know everything there is to know before the end of the week.

:drool ....
Hold on, I thought that Agetec already had a link to the pavilion?
Anyway, back on topic:
You aren't 'restricted' to not showing or telling anything, are you?
Valkysas
09-06-2005, 10:20 PM
they do have a link, but they want a graphic one to be shown at rpgmaker.agetec.com
and no, I'm not restricted at all. I can share absolutely anything, and I can upload demos that you guys cannot play if I feel like it.
:minotaur
The whole reason of this (in addition to the "thank you" factor) is what I like to call the "hardcore fan promotion", which is when we release every bit of info we can, to get people more excited about the game so they go get it the first day it's available.
and yes, we'll announce the good, along with the bad. however, I'm such a fan of RPG Maker that it takes me months to notice most of the "bad" stuff. like, I was in love with RPG Maker 2 until it came time to do the complex events I wanted to.

Yes Valk, go ahead and make the wait as "easy" as possible. :drool

Hey. This is what I do. I'm not supposed to make the wait easy.

I'm most interested in character, weapon, monster, object, and building lists.
Valkysas

lists will be the first thing to go up.

Cool. I have a few Lovecraftian dungeon crawler ideas that may be highly compatable with 3. Here's to hoping...

I pray there is something of a VFX editor. Since that is my favorite feature in RPG Maker history.

I heard there is not, but if there is some way to make blood or bullets such, someone will find it. If not, oh well.

This makes me want to ask my friend who works at eb games "slip" me a copy once they get the shipment. I don't care if it's against regulations, I'm so impatient about this product I'm willing to risk it all.
Speaking of which, eb games is terrible at keeping up with release dates. I remember they had rpgm2 on their shelves 2-3 days before the official release and Wind Waker was on the shelves almost a week before it was supposed to come out. I don't know if it was a staff error or what, but the guys in my area can't seem to read a computer screen that well.

RPG Maker 3 isnt shipping for a while still, so I dont think early releases will be a problem this time. Agetec is pretty much in "enforcer" mode for this. anyone who puts it out early is breaking a contract with agetec and their desitributor, and will probably be hearing from them.

2 1/2 weeks seems so far away...
I will be clinging onto your every word once you get your copy.

Yes, I just mainly want to know if the "Cinematics Editor" is my only option for cinematics.

I have a quick question. Could I try to make a logo? And if so, how would I go about giving to you? And what size should it be? thankyou.

logo stuff goes in the topics in free forum and imaginari

I have a question...
Where'd you get that disturbing chibi optimus? It haunts me everytime I close my eyelids.
Valkysas

cover of the japanese "comics bon-bon" magazine. scanned it last year, and its just been sitting on my hard drive for a while.

It's very nice.
And haunting.
As for RPGM3...i'll admit it! I was having second thoughts about buying a game the day it comes out. But RPGM3 sounds worth it. You've sucked me back in.
I shall await your reviewance, then...

I wish I had a camera so I could show everyone the giant cardboard "HEY MAILMAN, GIVE ME MY GAME" sign that I have hanging over my front door.

Now i'm reminded of a Simpsons episode.
"Where's my spy camera?"
"Where's my spy camera?"
"Where's my spy camera?"
"Where's my spy camera?"
"Where's my spy camera?"
"Where's my spy camera?"
"HERE'S YOUR STUPID SPY CAMERA!"
Valkysas

oh man, I just set my stereo up outside so that when I see the mailman pull up, I can hit play on a remote (from inside) and "the tragic prince" from castlevania SOTN will play as he walks through my yard to deliver the game.
what an awesome way to get RPGM3.
I bet that guy has never had intro music before.

That is the PERFECT song for that moment! Kudos!

That would be awesome, Toecutter...nothing like the Cthulhu mythos for inspiration in creating some nice horrific dungeons. :)
Valkysas, thank you for this! It will be most interesting in the coming days...I can't wait to play everyone's adventures, and work on my own.

I'm going absolutely insane waiting for RPG Maker 3! Agetec normally sends stuff to me via overnight air mail, so it should be here today... where is it? or were they waiting to mail it today? I WANT IT.
Well, at least I dont have to wait two weeks for it...
Biggie

You should keep an eye outside, the mail man may have skipped your house, thinking he may somehow be sacrificed or something.

You obviously meant "sent", but that's a given.
I guess that counts as the "useless, yet awesome" thing, eh?

Surprised you're not going into convulsions or going "postal" right now. That, or the "deed" was already done on one or both accounts.
Gulshog

Maybe he did shoot all the postal workers after not getting it...or maybe he got a job at the post office just so he could get it even faster? :lol

Hey Valk, did you do the thing with the boombox?
Valkysas
09-10-2005, 03:08 PM
no. didnt have time. didnt have the patience.
You're quite hyper about XP, however
am not. now that I have 3, I honestly dont give a crap about XP. I have the imported version, and I'm in no hurry to get back to it, or order another copy in english. I've had XP for over a year. I've had 3 for 1 day.
that ytmnd I made for XP was just something random to do, with a sound clip from enterbrain's promo video.
I'm going to make a White People/Black People tribute now that I know there's a black version of nearly everything.
