What's your stance on it? I know it's kinda screwy, and it's going to get worse in the future, but Bush's plan looks like a pipe dream, isn't even INCLUDED in the budget (along w/ Iraq costs) and I can trust him just about as far as I con throw him...and why the hell is he doing this now when our resources are stretched as thin as they are? And "privatization" just sounds...heh...bad...but I guess it technically is your money, and you might as well gamble it away.

Oh well, whatever. Do you guys have any stance on this issue?

I know that most social security now is fairly minimal, so even if you've worked your whole life, you won't get much in the end. My friend's dad gets SS/disability because he's paralyzed, and that's barely enough for him to live on.

My social security won't be there when I retire, because it's going to be needed for my parents once people their age (baby boomers) start retiring.

So I think the whole thing stinks. Bush is just making it an even bigger problem by not preparing for the worst right now.

Social security was meant to screw over a generation somewhere down the road. The baby boomers knew that it would. The "ME" generation that came next ultimately started the downward spiral, as did contraceptives. Free love, YEAH! Great idea, huh? So children and sex became seperate entities: people took the pleasure and discarded the inevitable human birth. Now from this generation forward every two persons is going to have to provide money for one while trying to provide for a family that they can't take care of because they are too busy working. Out of control kids(what there is of them), unhappy spouses, and divorces through the roof. Sweet miserable FUN!
