    Pavilion Super Group Game

Okay, I had a crazy fun idea for a group game. Ever played that silly game in school when you where a kid where 1 person would start a story, and then the next would add to it, and the next, etc. producing a very random and eclectic result?

Well, I think it would be fun to do that for a game. But it will take some organizing so I will make some rules. Valk, if you would like me to handle this in a certian way just let me know.

    A) Anyone may contribute. (as long as you are signed up).

    B) So that the game can be made easily and quickly, we will use RPGM1.

    C) Contributers must sign up to have the game in there posession for a maximum of 1 week.

*To sign up, send me a private message, and state the weeks you would prefer or not prefer. You may contribute a maximum of 2 chapters, but they must be at least 5 chapters apart from each other. For example Ch.2 and Ch.7. But you will only get to work on 1 chapter at a time.

The game will start Sat. Septemer 24.

    Here is the schedule:

    Week 1 = Sept. 24--Oct. 1
    Week 2 = Oct. 1 -- Oct. 8
    Week 3 = Oct. 8 -- Oct. 15
    Week 4 = Oct. 15-- Oct. 22
    Week 5 = Oct. 22-- Oct. 29
    Week 6 = Oct. 29-- Nov. 5
    Week 7 = Nov. 5 -- Nov. 12
    Week 8 = Nov. 12-- Nov. 19
    Week 9 = Nov. 19-- Nov. 26
    Week 10= Nov. 26-- Dec. 3

If more people sign up, we will keep going past this.
These are all Saturdays, I figured that would be best for everone.
*To sign up, send me a private message.

I will Post names and dates so everyone can see who is contributing.
Hopefully, some of you more popular writers joining up could help make this inticing for others and make it a bigger project.

    D) Handling Procedures:To make this work, each auther will add 1 chapter to the story, But I ask that you please follow these rules:

    1) Promtly recieve your game from the previus contributer.

    2) Play the entire game as it is.

    3) Start your chapter with the following header:

    (Example): Chapter 2
"Bob and the Alien" (so cheesy)
    by Alutra

    *Always use chapter #
    *Subtitle reccomended but not required
*Always say "by (your auther name)" so we know who wrote it.

    4) You may put anything you want in your chapter.
    - Any style of game may be used, as long as:
    - Your story must connect to the previous story in at least a small way.
    - You may use any previous character.
    - You may add any new characters.
    - You MAY NOT DELETE ANY PREVIOUSLY WRITTEN DATA.
( If you feel there is a serious error, or you think something in there was not intended by a previous contributer, post it, and we will talk about it)
    - You may kill any character, as long as you express how it affected other characters.
    - Any killed character may be revived.
    - YOU MAY ADD CHARACTERS FROM ANY GAME THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN
(it would be cool to see some cameos of RPGM's popular characters exp.
FU-Fu, the acid trip bunny. etc)
    - KEEP it PG-13 or lower
    - Your chapter may be as large or as small as you want it, but-
    - YOU ONLY GET 1 WEEK!!!!!

    5) At the end of your chapter, please insert:

    (Example): End of chapter 2

so we know where it ends.

    6) Please, Please playtest your game!

    7) Send out the new version by 11:59pm on the Saturday its due.
(VALK, WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY OF PASSING THIS AROUND? EMAIL? POST? It would be nice if only the contributers had it untill it was done.)

    8) be sure to keep your version saved in case someone misshandles the data.

If I think of any more rules, I will post them...Hopefully something like this could spawn future group progects too.

the group projects forum is only for ideas created by pavilion staff. moving this to RPGM General. I've got too much going on right now behind the scenes to be involved in anything like this.

If all of this comes to pass, why not use RPGMXP?

It sounds almost as simple as RPGM1.
        There's no limit on filesize.
No special hardware needed to participate.
It's graphically and mechanically more customizable than RPGM1.

I also think there's a couple important rules you may need to also include:

Since many games have sidequests that span the entire game, be sure to discuss it with future participants BEFORE adding it into the game.
Considering that the game may be pretty damned long after a few weeks, there should be a provision for extending the time limit if it takes a week to play through the game. New participants should be given time to figure out the plot before deciding what to do, obviously. Plus, followeing dialogue split among five different events is a beeeeeeeeeeyotch.
Each part should abide by the Pavilion's zero pirating policy. No copywrited music or video.

Anyway, I've got lots of ideas for my own games, and I'm also helping some friends with a game

I actually suggested this at another Domain, but it is all on hold until after XP comes out.

I am still a big RPGM2 devotee and would prefer it be on that system (if it happens). You do realize you did not specify which RPGMaker you want to use. There are 2 now, and will be 4 soon from which to choose (pick 2!!).

I may not be welcome in this though as I have a very hard time being inoffensive and PG-13 is a foreign language to me (with strong possibilities of errors in translation). Plus I am a Memory PIG! I love big expensive Visual Effects and am a chronic over-scripter. That would not be fair to others.

I do support the idea, though. Just with a few changes (offensive humor is scared, profanity is normal, and basically "Anything Goes"). Maybe get two groups, "rude and polite" or something.

I agree with Tjoris9 about play time. It would be unfair to those who get it later in the process to expect them to play it through as part of their week of creation. One alternative would be to make it a cartoon. No gameplay, just one big cut-scene. That way it would not take long for people to "get caught up" if they are near the end of the list and I'd get to do what I do best (if you can get over a little offensive humor) (OK, a lot of offensive humor). Plus, I've always wondered how long a cartoon could be made on this system.

Great thought. We'll see what comes of it.

          Peace.

            B) So that the game can be made easily and quickly, we will use RPGM1.

Well, maybe your right...I thought that if we used RPGM1, the game would be made quickly, because a week to use a program that you are already familiar with would be less of a commitment...and with everyone probably having multiple projects with the new software already, a project like this would be more likely to happen...Also I was just trying to keep RPGM 1 alive as long as possible...

As long as there are people with crappy computers, RPGM1 will always at least be on life support.

Well, I have RPGM1 but only just got it. I never used it (except to play Gobli) and still do not have a dex drive, so I'm out. That's probably for the best.

Maybe get one going for each maker and then let everyone who created vote (but not for the one on which they worked).

But now it would be getting complicated.

                  Good luck with it.

                  Peace.

                      Re: Pavilion Super Group Game

You know, there is another game similar to this that might work better. In the game you are given a piece of paper and told to write the begining of the story. You then fold the paper over so that the next person can only see the last sentence which they use to write the next part. No one knows how the story goes until the end when the whole thing is read aloud. The results can be pretty funny.

With RPG Maker XP, everyone can be give a section of story to work on without knowing what happens before or after, except for a brief discription. That way everyone can work on their parts at roughly the same time. After everything is made, all the parts will be put together and we can all play whatever crazy game is the result. The number of player characters and types would have to be set at the beginning, but it would be alright if the characters act differenly in each section.

The Crown of Order demo is here.

I'm not sure I want to deal with the controller typing of RPGM1. Actually, the limits of RPGM1 have been leaving a bad taste in my mouth lately. Despite me still wanting to work on this thing I've got barely going.
