    Sharing Muisc

    Don't ban me.

But what's your opinion on sharing music through iTunes on campus / LAN connection?

    Is it ethical? Legal? Safe?

    Re: Sharing Muisc

Personally, I limit the ammount of digital "stuff" I give away. I just don't see the point in offering a song or movie to thousands of people for free. They can BUY their own music, and movies, and games, and programs. If a friend of mine with a DVD or CD burner asks to borrow a music CD or a DVD they can do as they please with it, because it probably means that they won't bug me to borrow it again. Even then, I only have one friend who is a pirating whore.

Overall, I don't give out any free digital stuff without a good reason. RPGMXP, however, is the exception in that I'm not going to give any of my friends copies of it. They can buy it if they want it, and there's no reason to give them a copy, because they can play the games w/o the software. If RPGMXP sells well enough, who knows? We might see an RPGM3-style maker on PC in the future. And that, my friends, is a bright future in deed.

(sharing through iTunes? you can do better)

      Oh. I'm poor.

Actually, I have no excuse, and I'm just a rotten theif.

I don't see why music has to be so expensive, though...

Because musicians are hard workers and they hardly make anything for a living (not including pop/rap stars). The amount of effort to reward for being a musician is almost as bad as RPGM2.

I mostly use these kinds of programs to get anime.

In terms of CD sales, the artist themselves could really care less about whether the CD sells. For them it's an advertising medium more than anything else. If they can make good money on the road, they got it made.

My point: You like a band: Buy the CD. You love a band: Go to the concerts. You like one song off the album, and you think everything else is the musical equivalent of monkeys throwing poo: It's your call.

Most of the stuff I've downloaded I end up buying anyway.

I use P2P networks like one of those "try before you buy" things, there's no sense in putting out 20 bucks for something I won't like.

I own about 300 CDs, and I never paid for any of them.

I never really listened to music until I illegally downloaded through Napster, and now I continue to do that, 'cos I've never really paid for it before and it would feel weird to do it now.

In some cases, I wouldnt feel guilty. If I were illegaly downloading a Metallica song, and Lars busted into my house and started yelling, "what are you doing!? It's people like you that keep me away from acquiriing a pool in my 3rd mansion!", i'd tell him to die. I think Itunes and Napster are the Robin Hoods of the music industry.

                      *edit*

Does it ever **** you off that there are rapppers who have absolutely NO talent, all they do is stay in the background and go, "yeah" and they get paid 10 million for that. Where is the logic behind that? My dad works 62 hours a week driving a forklift and completely working his ass off, while some guy is just sitting there going yeah. My dad makes 45k a year but he never has any time left over to enjoy for he is always working and sleeping, and a rapper that does absolutely nothing that my dad couldn't do, gets 10 million a year.

I was flipping throught the channels, and cribs was on. I despise MTV, but right when I turned on the channel, there was this rapper talking about how he loves to party on his 3rd yacht, (SP). And to think people in New Orleans are suffering while a rich nobody is partying on a yacht, how injust.

Why does everybody like to **** on the rappers?

I'm not sticking up for them, but there are plenty of other equally untalented assholes.

Hey, just think, it's 10 million less for the record company.
