...for the best RPG designed on RPG Maker 3? Will Agetec support such an endeavor, and have they done so in the past?

agetec has not had any RPG Maker contests themselves. they don't have time to judge the games.

The pavilion is going to be working with agetec on contests in the future though.

That'd be pretty cool. If memory serves me correctly, Enterbrain seems to have one of these things once or twice a year. Of course they'd have the ability to do this, seeing as said company also publishes Famitsu. I wonder if they actually put those creations before the actual Famitsu reviewers. Those guys are incredibly strict in their judging.

Well, as the official US site for the console RPG Maker series, its kind of our responsibility to hold contests and such to get people to use the software. I decided a while back not to have any more contests unless we could make sure that we could offer a really, really great prize, and get the kind of turnout to justify that. We will likely have a strictly RPG Maker 3 contest early next year, but because agetec isnt involved in the english release of RPG Maker XP, we will probably never have any contests that allow XP submissions.

Seeing that there's the possibility of an RPGM3 contest early next year makes me feel better that I'm not likely to have a game for this contest (Ah, the agony of not checking up on you guys more frequently). Still, if you manage to find Omegablade Saga somewhere, it'll be at least one entry. I just hope that if you find it it's the enhanced version. Anything is better than nothing, though.
