    Ought Archer go to Louisiana?

I have national plane tickets that are sitting around, my grandparents are willing to give me a checking account which is loaded, and I want to meet some of my relatives in a nearby state to start helping and volunteer.

I'm not talking about JUST supplying food and stuff, I'm talking about actually helping people out emotionally ect.

I can't even begin to comprehend what is going on down there, it's honestly hell in new orleans right now. Martial law, ect. I feel like crap not helping out when I know I have resources availible to help that place out, and the people there.

My relatives feel the same way I do, everyone in the United States should too, as long as they're educated to the fullest extent to what is actually happening.

I have a 504 plan at school so I can afford to miss however long, and I'll come back really feeling good about myself considering I've been trying to find out what I really want to do in life and what my goals are.

Advice? I'm blunt about this, I can, and I want to.

If you go, be very careful. No one will be able to assure your protection, whether the threat be from looters, cops, OR the national guard.

Unless you're simply going to LA to the surrounding area of NO and not the city itself...

Yeah, it's pretty decided that I wouldn't be able to pull off going there, nor really want to anymore. Make up schoolwork, and not being able to carry any real form of protection turns off any motivation. I'm glad I live in Denver...

I did donate, either way. So I'm pretty happy about that, assuming the money really reaches the affected area.
