    Suikoden

I'm just about finished with Suikoden I. I had a heck of a time playing it, its a great classic game though it has its flaws. The only thing that annoys me about it is when you're forced to use certain characters during the missions.

    *Spoilers Ahead*

Being forced to use Flik was okay because I liked using him anyway, but I hated using Vicktor. I especially hated earlier in the game when you had to use Gremio so I was glad to see him die. The one character that I really wished would have stayed alive was Odessa. Why did Odessa have to die for crying out loud? She was the coolest looking character in the game. They should have made Odessa look like Cleo and Cleo Odessa. Oh well.

I can't wait to start playing Suikoden II.

Never played the first 2 since I could never find them. But I own the 3rd one, its a great game, but I am currently stuck on it.

suikoden 2 is probably the best of the bunch, although, i did enjoy 3 just the same.

You can find I and II on ebay but forget about buying II unless you're willing to dish out $100 for it. I got lucky and found it for $60 on ebay in mint condition (usually goes for around $150). You should definately pick up I for a good old-school RPG though, should be around $20-$40.

And my favorite chars in Suikoden I are:

        Flik
        Odessa
        Rubi
        Ronnie Bell
        Sonya
        Grenseal
        Valeria

Okay I beat I and started II. So far its a very fun and addicting game. One thing I don't understand though is how come Vicktor and Flik are only lv30 when they were lvl50+ on my Suikoden I game? I thought loading the data from the first game would carry over the character levels.

No, it doesnt carry over the levels from the first game, it only carries over general information from the first game, and mostly references to the main character from the first game. And i think you dont get to do a whole sidequest, unless you have a save from Suikoden 1 with all 108 stars.

Oh that sucks because I didn't take the time to get all 108 on Suikoden I. Actually I was missing quite a few.

                Re: Suikoden

You can do the sidequest, its just different. And also you didn't get the real ending if you didn't get all 108 stars.

                *spoilers*

If you didn't get all the stars from the first game, insted of Gremio being in the sidequest a girl from the inn will fill in his parts. You also won't get his stew reciepe.

Is the same true for Suikoden II itself concerning getting the true ending?

Yes, you HAVE to get the good ending, otherwise the ending SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I may have already missed a char or two that I won't ever be able to get again, but I hope I'm wrong. I don't want to cheat the first time through playing it. I will definately play it a second time though and maybe a third in the future. Its a great game. One thing that kinda annoys me though is the fact that you don't know when you'll have a choice to make (like when you can choose what you want to say) and you accidently pick the first choice. I guess this is kind of a problem with every RPG but I'm afraid I might miss a character or something in this one.

I'm getting into Suikoden II quite a bit. Its 100 times better than the first one. The story is pretty engrossing and so is the gameplay. I just wish that the translation didn't have so many stupid flaws. How can translators overlook so many obvious things!? That just irritates me.

I dunno... I liked the bad ending to Suikoden II.

Between Suikoden II and Silent Hill 2, I guess I have a thing for bad endings.
