Are we missing anyone? (hurricane related)

are/were any members located in areas hit by the hurricane? If so, I want to know so I can watch their accounts for activity to find out if they're okay. I dont want to imagine losing anyone to this disaster, but seeing how widespread our membership is, it's very likely...

I would have made this topic earlier, but my computer just now started working again, and the dreamcast wouldnt let me create any topics.

A friend of mine lived in New Orleans. I haven't been able to get in touch with her. I don't know if she got out, or if she's still there, or if she's even alive.

Some of the pictures I saw on Mainichi's news site were heartbreaking. Everything I've been reading is awful. I'm going to donate a % of my next few paychecks to the red cross. Other than moping around and thinking about it, that's about all I can do.

My sister lost all her stuff except some clothes (she's okay and out of there), so that is pretty uncool, but could be worse. I'm probably gonna send her my computer. Just 'cos if I lost my computer, I would become insta-loser until I had another one.

Montana seems to be the safest place in the world, besides that giant volcano in Yellowstone that will errupt at any time.

                  *Is jobless too*

*Is more broke than broke can be*

*Rides a MoPed instead of a car*

I would help if I could.

I know how the people feel about not having anything to donate. This one guy I know, who owns a resteraunt, is donating money from what he makes tomorrow to charity for this.

It is pretty sad, especially when you see some of the survivors worrying more about looting houses than their own lives. I know it can't be changed, but greed is the sickest motivation in existence.

i agree on that, but you have to consider that they lost close to, if not, everything they owned. Money is one of those things that is your best friend and worst enemies i guess

Yeah, you're right, I understand that. I was not condemning people for that specifically, but I was more talking about the people who would willingly put themselves into more danger for stuff they don't need.

I can understand... I would try to take as much stuff of my own as I could. But it just seems like some people were taking advantage of this so they could rob others.

I guess it doesn't really matter, though. Its not like that stuff will get much use anymore. I hate to talk about some of the people in that situation like that, but they should think about their own safety first. I guess I should have been more clear about who exactly I was saying was being greedy.

You were pretty clear on whom was being greedy, I was simply showing you their drive into doing so.

I can't say what I'd do in that position, as I have no idea on how I would think in that given situation.

there's no excuse for the looters, who are breaking into still populated homes and businesses and robbing people of everything they still have at gunpoint, outright killing them, and even raping them. or hell, combinations of those.

I can understand the people breaking into ABANDONED businesses to get the essentials, but not the bastards stealing drugs, guns, money, and who knows what else.
